Google Home and Assistant can speak Canadian French now
The first of several new languages for Google's Assistant AI is here, as users have noticed Canadian French as a language option. I was able to switch it on for my Google Home by looking for Assistant Language under device settings in its control app, while The Android Soul reports they could turn it on simply by saying "Ok Google, speak to me in French Canadian," however I could not get that to work. The new language is obviously there to get ready for the Google Home launch in Canada on the 26th, making it the first one Assistant supports outside of English. At Google's I/O event in May, the company announced that German, Brazilian-Portuguese and Japanese will be added this summer, followed by Italian, Spanish and Korean later in the year.
Smart Homes' Basic Setup: 5 Devices You Need, Prices And Risks Involved
Our homes and generally our lives, are growing more and more smart every day. Whether it be smartwatches, smartphones and smart speakers, they can all be integrated into and support a smart home ecosystem. A smart home is a connected system for your home, consisting of different appliances which can be easily controlled and ensure not just comfort but energy efficiency at all times. Installation of smart products inside homes have become more commonplace than earlier imagined. Even just a decade ago, a smart home would either have been too expensive or too futuristic.
Using AI, Predictive Analytics, and Recommendations - DZone Big Data
Here's what retailers can get from using recommendation systems: Increased customer loyalty by sending offers based on specific customer needs. The idea is simple: we define a market basket for every customer and calculate the distance between the specific customer and others having similar items in the market basket. Then, we recommend customers buy the goods purchased earlier by those customers with similar market baskets. If a customer feature set coincides with an item feature set, then this customer gets a recommendation for this specific item.
Study says evaluating someone based looks is pointless
A new study has suggested that a great personality trumps good looks when finding a match. Researchers found that people's perceptions of potential dates' attractiveness goes up after they have a positive face-to-face interaction - but only for those who were rated mid to low attractiveness based on their photo. Because those who were deemed good looking could not increase in attractiveness, it was those in the middle who received higher ratings for being friendly and having a good sense of humor. Researchers found that people's perceptions of potential dates' attractiveness goes up after they have a positive face-to-face interaction - but only for those who were rated mid to low attractiveness based on their photo The recent study, conducted by researchers at the University of Kansas, investigated how a person's perception changes of person they'meet' on a dating app when they come face-to-face in real life. By rating someone's attractiveness before meeting them diminishes the rater's evaluation of that person afterward, probably because the rater is comparing their conversation partner to all the other potential partners they saw online.

Delta Air Lines wants to be your wingman -- a slightly dishonest wingman, but a wingman nonetheless. The Atlanta-based airline has recently teamed up with Tinder to transform the exterior of Brooklyn building into a "dating wall" covered in worldly murals depicting nine different Delta destinations. According to a press release, the idea is for Brooklynites to snap photos near the murals, upload them to their dating profiles, and trick unsuspecting Tinder dates into thinking they're more well-traveled than they actually are. FAMILY SUES DELTA OVER SMACKING PHONE FROM KID'S HAND "Until you take the trip, we'll help you fake the trip with these backdrops," the mural reads in large black letters. What the first iPhone tells us about tech's future
See how Apple's iPhone ignited the evolution of mobile devices. In this Jan. 9, 2007, file photo, Apple CEO Steve Jobs holds up an iPhone at the Macworld Conference in San Francisco. NEW YORK--In my review of the first iPhone 10 years ago, I called it a "glitzy wunderkind" and a "prodigy". The thing about prodigies, no matter how gifted, is they often flame out. For all the hype that surrounded Apple's prized new device, there was no guarantee in 2007 that it, too, wouldn't burn out before it really took off.
Grindr and Other Gay Dating Apps Want to Create Connections Beyond the Bedroom
What perhaps sets these new brands apart from their predecessors, then, is their push to expand the visibility of the queer community. For instance, one user might not know much about another offline, but he might know little things about him from having scrolled through his geotagged social media page. He might even recognize him from his profile photos walking down the street, or in the audience of, say, a recent panel about digital content by and for the queer community. Far from keeping queer men on the fringes, these apps are fueling a novel knowingness among users--on the app, yes, but also offline, when users go out to create and engage with open communities. These apps are playing host to conversations--silent and verbal, private and public--about what, exactly, the queer experience can entail.
