Photo taken by Alex Villafania The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is planning to incorporate research into artificial intelligence (AI) in its 2017-2022 development agenda in an effort to ramp up the country's science and technology research programs. DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said during the recent National Research and Development Conference that they intend to incorporate AI into the Philippine Development Plan called "Ambisyon Natin 2040." Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Medical Image Computing (MEVIS) in Bremen, Germany have developed software that uses deep learning to facilitate the detection of tumours in progressive cancer treatment images. The package will be demonstrated in Chicago at the world's largest radiology meeting, RSNA, on 27 November to 2 December.
