As one of the fundamental components, road segmentation observes the environment, finds the drivable area, and creates an occupancy map for path planning. In self-driving systems, road segmentation not only classify the area, but also contributes to other perception modules. Segmentation is the task of clustering elements of an image corresponding to the same object class.
