8 Incredible Examples of Artificial Intelligence in Action
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not just a futuristic concept that might evolutionize the world as we know it, but rather an already-existing technology that strongly impacts various industries. Although we are still far from stretching AI to the fullest extent, smart systems are already changing the way we live and do business in many different areas. Experts define AI as the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. So, what can intelligent machines do for us? We prepared a list of seven incredible examples of AI in action.
The 49ers will win Super Bowl 2020, Alexa predicts, but Siri and Google Assistant punt
The San Francisco 49ers are going to win the Super Bowl. That's what Amazon Alexa says anyway. Though the voice inside my Echo speaker acknowledged that the Kansas City Chiefs are favored, she offered her own prediction: "The 49ers will be joining the Patriots and Steelers with a six-pack of Super Bowl wins." Her counterparts at Apple and Google weren't as willing to go out on a limb. When asked, Siri responded, "The odds favor the Chiefs to win by 1 point."
Dating apps face U.S. inquiry over underage use and sex offenders
SAN FRANCISCO โ A House subcommittee is investigating popular dating services such as Tinder and Bumble for allegedly allowing minors and sex offenders to use their services. Bumble, Grindr, The Meet Group and the Match Group, which owns such popular services as Tinder, Match.com and OkCupid, are the current targets of the investigation by the U.S. House Oversight and Reform subcommittee on economic and consumer policy. In separate letters Thursday to the companies, the subcommittee is seeking information on users' ages, procedures for verifying ages, and any complaints about assaults, rape or the use of the services by minors. It is also asking for the services' privacy policies and details on what users see when they review and agree to the policies. Although the minimum age for using internet services is typically 13 in the U.S., dating services generally require users to be at least 18 because of concerns about sexual predators.
Home Affairs deploys [REDACTED], its first digital assistant
Four years after the federal government's first chatbots began arriving on the scene to help citizens navigate services, the Department of Home Affairs has finally launched its own. The department recently began trialling a Nuance-powered digital assistant on its website to provide tailored responses to common questions using natural language and conversational dialogue. Initially limited to answering visa and citizenship questions on the immi.homeaffairs It is also capable of learning from its interactions in order to automatically improve its responses to questions over time. A spokesperson told iTnews that the trial assistant "sits on the Nuance platform and was developed in collaboration with the department's service centre provider, Datacom Connect".
How Digital Marketers Are Leveraging AI Tools And Automation In Advertising
From chatbots shopping recommendations -- AI has impacted every user's life today For most users, the first experience of artificial intelligence (AI) was through chatbots that responded to questions with preset responses. From Indian Railways' saree-clad chatbot Disha, to Amazon and Flipkart's shopping assistants, to Instagram's algorithm-backed advertisements, dynamic pricing on Uber and Ola to restaurant recommendations on Zomato and Swiggy -- are all examples of AI use-cases in digital marketing. While that may be the most basic way that AI and natural language processing is being used in India for marketing and sales, these days technology has grown beyond just bots on websites. According to Sudeshna Datta, cofounder of Absolutdata, marketing is largely about enhancing user experience whether traditional or digital. And these days, artificial intelligence is helping digital marketers provide the customer experience that directly boosts retention and increases brand loyalty measurably.
Why It's Time to Transform Your Classroom with AI -- THE Journal
As these teachers have come to understand, you don't have to be technically minded to introduce your students to the important concepts behind artificial intelligence. When computer science teacher Sharon Harrison wanted to introduce her eighth graders to the basic idea of artificial intelligence, she had them try out an online chatbot called Akinator, which asks the user questions to determine what historic or fictional character he or she is thinking of. In some instances, the students marveled at how quickly the program could figure out the answer. "Sometimes it would guess in three or four guesses, and we'd say, 'How on earth was it able to do that?'" From there, the discussion in this elective class at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools examined how responses to the chatbot could be sabotaged -- by responding to the questions incorrectly, and thereby "damage the integrity of the program."
IoT in Banking: Examples of IoT solutions in finance
Banking is becoming more convenient thanks to the Internet, and the future of the banking industry is growing increasingly digital. Whether discussing the future of retail banking or the future of mobile banking, technology is playing a larger role in our everyday transactions. Data privacy concerns hamper adoption, use of personal medical devices
Despite the push towards healthcare digitalization and the rise of personal medical devices, just 38 percent of Americans believe proper safeguards are in place to protect their personal health data, according to recent survey of more than 1,000 American adults. In addition, more than 60 percent of survey respondents pointed to privacy-related issues, such as data breaches, as having deterred them from using telemedicine or wearable fitness trackers, according to the survey, from market research firm Kantar. More than a quarter of respondents to the poll said they didn't even know whether proper data safeguards were in place, and 36 percent said they don't believe those safeguards are in place. The study also found that while Americans think technology is driving a more connected relationship with healthcare providers and allows them to be more "in-touch" with their personal healthcare, consumers are viewing technologies like voice-technology and artificial intelligence with a skeptical eye. For example, voice technology is still in its infancy in relation to consumer healthcare, with very few Americans using Google Home products, or voice-driven devices such as Amazon's Alexa-enabled devices, to find answers about an illness or health issues.
