Google Artificial Intelligence Team Draws From Critical Race Theory, Internal Document Shows
Google's artificial intelligence (AI) work draws from Critical Race Theory, a philosophical framework that posits that nearly every interaction should be seen as a racial power struggle and seeks to "disrupt" American society which it views as immutably racist, according to a company document obtained by The Daily Wire. A screenshot of an internal company page, obtained by The Daily Wire, says under the header "Ethical AI": We focus on AI at the intersection of Machine Learning and society, developing projects that inform the general public; bringing the complexities of individual identity into the development of human-centric AI; and creating ways to measure different kinds of biases and stereotypes. Out [sic] work includes lessons from gender studies, critical race theory, computational linguistics, computer vision, engineering education, and beyond! Google's Ethical AI team appears intent on encoding far-left ideology into its algorithms even after previous leaders of the team plunged the section into chaos over their insistence on overlaying progressive politics onto mathematics. Until recently, the team was co-led by Timnit Gebru, who cofounded a "Black in AI" racial affinity group and in 2018 coauthored a paper saying facial recognition technology was less accurate at recognizing women and minorities.
AI in Employee Training Can Help with Predicted Post-Pandemic Turnover - AI Trends
Dramatic employee turnover is being predicted in the post-pandemic era, at the same time that AI is being incorporated into more learning and development solutions, giving employers an opportunity to establish a competitive differentiation. An employee turnover "tsunami" is predicted by results from a survey of 2,000 adults in February conducted by The Work Institute, a research and consulting firm in Franklin, Tenn., according to an account from SHRM, the Society of Human Resource Management. The survey found that half of employees in North America plan to look for a new job in 2021. "We see absolutely pent-up turnover demand in the U.S. workforce," stated Danny Nelms, president of The Work Institute, which is focused on employee engagement and retention. Prior to the pandemic, the firm would see about 3.5 million people leaving their jobs monthly.
AI Vs. ML Vs. DL Vs. Data Science: Learn the Data Lingo
AI vs. ML vs. DL vs. Data Science โ How are they different from each other and how are they related? Data professionals work with many technologies that may, at first, seem similar. Adding to the confusion is that some media sources use the terms interchangeably. In this article, we're going to learn the differences between artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and how does deep learning (DL) relate to those two. Then, we'll find out how data science fit into all these terms.
IoC's Industrial Masters for Artificial Intelligence launches for third year
The Institute of Coding (IoC) is launching its Industrial Masters programme for Artificial Intelligence (IMAI) for a third year, announced Matt Warman, minister for digital infrastructure, at the CogX Festival earlier this week (14 June). The IoC, a national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers, led by the University of Bath, hopes the course will help to address the UK's skills shortage by instilling students with employer-led, industry-informed digital knowledge and expertise. Through the IMAI programme, the IoC is working alongside the government's Office for Artificial Intelligence to advance its work on a nationwide programme of industry-funded postgraduate degrees and work placements. The studentships and placements use higher education as a platform to help people build careers in AI. "Through our bold new National AI Strategy we will lead the charge in harnessing the power of AI to tackle some of the biggest challenges of our timeโฆ" โ Matt Warman, minister for digital infrastructure The IMAI team has successfully paired students with industry partners since March 2019, increasing skills and diversity within the professional field. The initiative has seen the creation of new AI Masters places at UK universities funded by corporations such as DeepMind, QuantumBlack, Cisco and BAE Systems, backed by the UK government.
Learn to think like a genius with Brilliant
A so-called active approach to learning helps individuals develop new skills and sharpen their intuition by placing a higher value on interactivity, visual problem-solving, the freedom to fail and goal-setting than do other approaches to learning. So, although people incorporate active learning into their lives for different reasons, such as to advance in an academic or professional career, the underlying reason anyone becomes an active learner in the first place is to learn how to think. And everyone can do that with the help of Brilliant. Brilliant is an online platform that helps people become sharper thinkers with the help of interactive learning materials. Unlike many lecture videos, Brilliant offers anyone 10 years and older the opportunity to learn through fun and challenging interactive explorations.
How to Train Artificial Intelligence to Teach Math to Humans
When using the system, the student must achieve the target level, i.e. master all skills with the confidence not lower than a certain threshold value, e.g. This means that the student will have this skill at the required level with 90% probability. The system must provide the amount of various level learning materials that should be sufficient to master each skill. To exclude the chance of the student memorizing the right answer, the content must be redundant. The system must provide the student with an individual sequence of learning materials corresponding with his/her current state.
Employers turning to artificial intelligence to screen new hires
A day after her interview for a part-time job at Target last year, Dana Anthony got an email informing her she didn't make the cut. Anthony didn't know why -- a situation common to most job seekers at one point or another. But she also had no sense at all of how the interview had gone, because her interviewer was a computer. More job-seekers, including some professionals, may soon have to accept impersonal online interviews where they never talk to another human being, or know if behind-the-scenes artificial-intelligence systems are influencing hiring decisions. Demand for online hiring services, which interview job applicants remotely via laptop or phone, mushroomed during the COVID-19 pandemic and remains high amid a perceived worker shortage as the economy opens back up.
Andrew Ng Launches A Campaign For Data-Centric AI
Data is eating the world so Andrew Ng wants to make sure we radically improve its quality. "Data is food for AI," says Ng, and he is launching a campaign to shift the focus of AI practitioners from model/algorithm development to the quality of the data they use to train the models. Landing AI, the startup Ng founded to bring AI to traditional industries, today announced a competition to get the best performance out of a fixed model by improving the quality of the data. The top three winners will be invited to a private roundtable event with Andrew Ng to share ideas and explore how to grow the data-centric movement. In addition, DeepLearning.AI, an education startup Ng also founded, is launching an online course to teach his data-centric approach to a worldwide audience on Coursera (which Ng co-founded in 2012).
