This creamy vegan cheese was made with AI
"Traditional ingredient discovery can take years and tens of millions of dollars, and what results are ingredients only incrementally better than the previous generation," says Shiru CEO Jasmin Hume, who wrote her PhD thesis on protein engineering. "[Now] we can go from scratch, meaning what nature has to offer; pick out the proteins that will function best; and prototype and test them in about three months." Not everyone in the industry is bullish about AI-assisted ingredient discovery. Jonathan McIntyre, a food consultant who formerly headed R&D teams in both beverages and snacks at Pepsi, thinks the technology is "significantly" overhyped as a tool for his field. "AI is only as good as the data you feed it," he says.
Data-Driven Behaviour Estimation in Parametric Games
Maddux, Anna M., Pagan, Nicolò, Belgioioso, Giuseppe, Dörfler, Florian
A central question in multi-agent strategic games deals with learning the underlying utilities driving the agents' behaviour. Motivated by the increasing availability of large data-sets, we develop an unifying data-driven technique to estimate agents' utility functions from their observed behaviour, irrespective of whether the observations correspond to equilibrium configurations or to temporal sequences of action profiles. Under standard assumptions on the parametrization of the utilities, the proposed inference method is computationally efficient and finds all the parameters that rationalize the observed behaviour best. We numerically validate our theoretical findings on the market share estimation problem under advertising competition, using historical data from the Coca-Cola Company and Pepsi Inc. duopoly.

PI-QT-Opt: Predictive Information Improves Multi-Task Robotic Reinforcement Learning at Scale
Lee, Kuang-Huei, Xiao, Ted, Li, Adrian, Wohlhart, Paul, Fischer, Ian, Lu, Yao
The predictive information, the mutual information between the past and future, has been shown to be a useful representation learning auxiliary loss for training reinforcement learning agents, as the ability to model what will happen next is critical to success on many control tasks. While existing studies are largely restricted to training specialist agents on single-task settings in simulation, in this work, we study modeling the predictive information for robotic agents and its importance for general-purpose agents that are trained to master a large repertoire of diverse skills from large amounts of data. Specifically, we introduce Predictive Information QT-Opt (PI-QT-Opt), a QT-Opt agent augmented with an auxiliary loss that learns representations of the predictive information to solve up to 297 vision-based robot manipulation tasks in simulation and the real world with a single set of parameters. We demonstrate that modeling the predictive information significantly improves success rates on the training tasks and leads to better zero-shot transfer to unseen novel tasks. Finally, we evaluate PI-QT-Opt on real robots, achieving substantial and consistent improvement over QT-Opt in multiple experimental settings of varying environments, skills, and multi-task configurations.

Tesla's first Semi trucks will be delivered to Pepsi in December
After months of anticipation, Elon Musk finally took the wraps off Tesla's first AI humanoid robot, 'Optimus' on September 30. Optimus, which was first announced in August last year, received a frenzied reception at the firm's AI Day event in California. The bot was filmed emerging from behind a wall with two robotic hands in a heart shape, before taking a few tentative steps to wild applause. Musk said Tesla is planning to sell the bot for'probably less than $20,000' (£17,700) in three to five years' – meaning another long wait for Tesla fans to get their hands on the firm's most anticipated technology. Following its unveiling, MailOnline has taken a look at the Tesla products that have been announced but are still yet to be released - including Cybertruck, Robotaxi and the second-generation Roadster.

How AI can enhance customer experience
Many companies seem eager to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities, if for no other reason than to be able to let their employees, customers, and business partners know that they're on the leading edge of technology progress. At the same time, a lot of businesses are looking to enhance the experiences of customers and channel partners, in order to increase brand loyalty, boost sales, and gain market share--among other reasons. Some have found a way to combine these goals, using AI-powered tools to improve the way they deliver products, services, and support to their clients and business partners. G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers began its foray into AI and machine learning in January 2020, when it partnered with Microsoft to better understand the AI and machine learning components within Microsoft's Azure cloud platform. With guidance from Microsoft's data science team, "we spent time understanding the environment, required skill sets, and began ingesting various data components within Azure ML to provide predicted outcomes," says Brian Balzer, vice president of digital technology and business transformation at G&J Pepsi.
Will AI enhance consumer experience in FMCG market? - Exchange4media
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and programmatic advertising can prove to be great tools for FMCG brands in garnering better customer engagement. With the use of programmatic data, brands can generate personalised content for consumers. Unlike before, with programmatic data one can also generate real-time data with respect to a consumer's walks into the store. AI will also instantly allow the brand to understand market trends which lead to better customer personalization. We at exchange4media got in touch with marketing leaders and brands to get their perspective on how the FMCG sector can leverage from AI and programmatic advertising.
Best 2019 Super Bowl Ads, From Chance's Doritos to 2 Chainz' Expenses
Boy oh boy, Super Bowl LIII really lived up its name this year; that was 60 minutes of gridiron pigskin getting played, right? They really moved the chains is all we're saying. U2 never sounded so good! Most Users Still Don't Know How Facebook Advertising Works OK, fine, we admit that we may have zoned out a little bit, It's not our fault; blame our extreme distaste for the Patriots an incredibly uneventful game the Puppy Bowl and a frankly unhealthy number of chicken wings. But one thing we didn't lose focus on was the commercials.
The Best and Worst Super Bowl Ads
Two years ago, I watched every single Super Bowl, so I can say with absolute certainty that, for whatever reason, America's most-watched sports event is usually a terrible football game. This, I suspect, is one of the reasons why Americans have come to care so much about Super Bowl ads: They know that while the game will probably fall short of its hype, at least they'll see a few entertaining commercials. Last year's Super Bowl reversed that trend, with a great game surrounded by a bunch of lackluster ads. This year's Super Bowl followed suit. While the game itself was an all-time classic--easily top 10, maybe even top five--this year's ads were a poor crop. For every humorous or striking one, there were at least three others that were boastful, cloying, cringeworthy, or misguided.
5 Ways Artificial Intelligence Will Impact Your Marketing in 2017

That means mutual support, both professionally and personally. This ethos extends to our customers, who we figuratively (and sometimes literally) smother in hugs.
