The Race to Cover Your World in Really Useful Buttons

WIRED

As your Tesla Model S rounds the corner of your tree-lined street, dodging snow drifts and bundled children, you see your house at the end of the block. The steering wheel swings left, guiding the car into the driveway as you click a button on your visor, opening the garage. The lamp by the walkway illuminates the path to your door, where, wiping your feet on the matt, the deadbolt opens with a click. Crossing the threshold, you press a button on the wall. The lights come on, as does the TV, tuned to the game you were listening to in the car so you can see how it ends. Clicking the remote again starts the popcorn machine.
