Why developers should treat bots like browser extensions

This post was inspired by this one; "Conversational interfaces, beyond the hype". Thank you Paul for inviting me to comment. But I do remember the correct etiquette for linking. Theres's a lot of chatter about bots and how developers should perceive them -- and whether they add value to end users or not. And there's some discussion around what a bot is and why we use the term "bot".
