Simula Research Laboratory in Norway has been at the forefront of AI research on gastroenterology lesion detection for more than five years. At Augere Medical, we develop products to help save lives. Every year, more than 4 200 new cases of colon cancer are found in Norway and 1 500 men and women die of this disease. When performing colonoscopies, the detection rate of polyps that can lead to cancer varies by more than 30 %, depending on the experience of the physician. In our research, we have developed artificial intelligence models to help physicians find the overlooked polyps and improve the average quality of the examinations towards the best doctors.
