Getting into the Soul of Machines through NLP

Natural language processing, or NLP in short, is a subfield of Artificial Intelligence used by computers to understand Human Language. The study of NLP started in the 1950s and until the 1980s, developers used to write complex hand-written rules to build an NLP system. This all changed and a revolution started when Machine Learning algorithms were developed for Natural language processing. The new NLP systems were based on statistical and probabilistic models. Before we dive into NLP let's first take a look at how humans understand the language.
