A robot courier supermarket delivery service is being rolled out. The tech company Starship Technologies is delivering online purchases from one Tesco store and a Co-op outlet, both in Milton Keynes, to customers within a two mile radius. The robot buggies are each capable of carrying up to 10kg in weight and they can negotiate the streets on their own to deliver purchases to the door within 15 minutes. Starship technologies has rolled-out the'autonomous package delivery' service in the town of Milton Keynes after trials in the US and London They bypass the need for cars, vans and bikes and are a more immediate and practical solution than the drones being tested by Amazon and others. The autonomous vehicles travel on pavements and have a maximum speed of just 4mph.
