Uber plans for self-driving taxis on roads in 18 months

Uber plans to have its highly anticipated self-driving taxis in service within 18 months, according to the ride-hailing firm's CEO. Dara Khosrowshahi, 48, said that soon customers will have the option to ride with a normal Uber driver or with one of its automated cars. However, he added that in select US cities where the service will launch, only five per cent of rides will run fully-automated to begin with.
