Samsung Bixby Logo Confirms Debut With Galaxy S8, S8 Plus Flagship Phones?
Ever since rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S8 surfaced, there have been substantial reports hinting at the launch of a new smart assistant by Samsung. This new AI-powered voice assistant is said to be a strong competitor against Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa and Google's Google Assistant. This week, there's new proof that the South Korea giant could be introducing its rumored Bixby assistant with its upcoming flagship phones. SamMobile recently spotted a new trademark filing by Apple's biggest rival company. The application is apparently for the logo of its new AI assistant. Based on the document, the logo resembles not only the letter "B," but also the number "8" -- fueling speculations that Bixby is debuting with the Galaxy S8 and the larger Galaxy S8 Plus.
Artificial Intelligence in HR: The Basics You Need To Know
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a man of the future, he was onto the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) way before everyone else. Once again, something that seemed possible only in science-fiction films or a very distant future, turned out to become reality. That is, the Artificial Intelligence part, not the killer- robot-with-laser-gun part, thank god. Slowly but surely though, awareness about AI in HR is increasing, and there has been a lot of speculation about its future potential and applications. It's about time we had a closer look at Artificial Intelligence ourselves.
Artificial Intelligence extends sway to stock picking
Babak Hodjat believes humans are too emotional for the stock market. So he's started one of the first hedge funds run completely by artificial intelligence. "Humans have bias and sensitivities, conscious and unconscious," says Hodjat, a computer scientist who helped lay the groundwork for Apple's Siri. "It's well documented we humans make mistakes. For me, it's scarier to be relying on those human-based intuitions and justifications than relying on purely what the data and statistics are telling you."
7 safety tips to remember for online dating
When searching for Mr. or Ms. Right, online dating is now so widely accepted that personal safety sometimes gets overlooked. After all, most dates that start online end up in either a love connection or with the two of you going your separate ways. But it is easy to let your guard down or find yourself in an unsafe situation -- especially if Grey Goose swoops in. That's why it's important to have a few common-sense strategies that keep you safe, according to law enforcement experts and others. "Tell your friends where you're going and when you'll be home," said Helen Fisher, a senior research fellow with the famed Kinsey Institute and chief scientific advisor to Match.com.
The apps that solve everyday problems facing couples
We are in an age where technology seeps into every aspect of our lives. We communicate with friends and family through Whatsapp and Facebook, sort out our finances on personal banking apps, largely carry out our jobs via email and other online arenas, and singles use dating apps as a platform for prospective partners. So it is no surprise that matters in our relationships can now be sorted online too.In our increasingly busy lives, it can be difficult to co-ordinate diaries, sort out the food shop or fairly split the bills. Meet the couples who are using apps in their relationships. A new study has revealed that Sunday at 9am is the most popular time of the week for Brits to get busy in the bedroom.
Virtual assistant Cortana holds people to promises
Microsoft virtual assistant Cortana began holding people to their promises on Thursday. "Now, Cortana can help you remember things you've said you would do in your emails -- without you even having to ask," partner group program manager Marcus Ash said in a blog post. "Cortana automatically recognizes when you make a commitment in email messages and will proactively suggest a reminder to you to follow through at just the right time." An update to Cortana -- Microsoft's digital assistant infused with artificial intelligence -- enables it to recognize and make note when people promise in messages to tend to tasks, according to Ash. "We've all been in the situation where we've promised to do something in email, like send your boss a report by end of day, or purchase tickets to the movies for your date night," Ash said. "But the day goes on, emails pile up, and you quickly forget. Now Cortana has your back."
Code-Dependent: Pros and Cons of the Algorithm Age
Algorithms are instructions for solving a problem or completing a task. Recipes are algorithms, as are math equations. The internet runs on algorithms and all online searching is accomplished through them. Email knows where to go thanks to algorithms. Smartphone apps are nothing but algorithms. Computer and video games are algorithmic storytelling. Online dating and book-recommendation and travel websites would not function without algorithms. GPS mapping systems get people from point A to point B via algorithms. Artificial intelligence (AI) is naught but algorithms. The material people see on social media is brought to them by algorithms. In fact, everything people see and do on the web is a product of algorithms. Every time someone sorts a column in a spreadsheet, algorithms are at play, and most financial transactions today are accomplished by algorithms. Algorithms help gadgets respond to voice commands, recognize faces, sort photos and build and drive cars. Hacking, cyberattacks and cryptographic code-breaking exploit algorithms.
Sony's TVs Will Be the First With Google Assistant Inside
Sony's latest 4K panels boast powerful processors that improve the look of just about any video you throw onto the screen. But the chips inside these TVs don't stop at making movies look better: Like giant Pixel phones, the TVs will have Google's voice-controlled Assistant built into them. According to Sony, Google Assistant will be added to their new sets via a firmware update later this year. The sooner they can do it, the better. Tens of millions of people are expected to decide it's finally time to buy a 4K TV this year, and the deals are delicious at every point of the pricing spectrum. Variety abounds too, as the industry's big brands try to solve different pieces of the picture-quality puzzle.
12 wearables predictions for 2017
The new year has arrived and it's going to be one big year for wearable tech. Evey year I look into my connected crystal ball and peek into the future to predict what might happen in the world of wearables. Here is how I think 2017 will shake down for the wearable world. The biggest buzzword of 2017 is AI, and it's set to be the saving grace of IoT and wearables. Deep learning is a massive missing piece when it comes to our connected world -- wearable tech included -- as cognitive computing and machine learning will make use of big data and connect the dots for users.
