Optoma's P1 laser projector brings a 4K home theater anywhere

Engadget

Optoma's latest projector joins competition like Hisense and LG by including everything you need for a home theater in one package. The P1 Smart 4K UHD Laser Cinema is not just a laser projector, as it combines the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control we've seen in previous Optoma units with a NuForce Dolby Digital 2.0 sound bar that has built-in woofers. Simply find an open wall and the P1 can project a 120-inch screen from "inches away" with 3,000 lumens of brightness, plus it's compatible with HDR10 and HLG-encoded content. It's supposed to go on sale in late Q2 with an estimated price of about $3,000. Follow all the latest news from CES 2019 here!

The New iOS 12: How it will Impact iPhone App Development

#artificialintelligence

The new iOS 12 released on September 2018, and a host of new features have left the iOS developers both excited and anxious. Excited because of the possibilities: the new devices are now 40% faster at launching apps, 50% faster at displaying the keyboard, and 70% faster at launching the camera app, has the ability to set app limits, and come with visual "do not disturb" and a new USDZ file type. Anxious because, of course, all these new features are going to set new users preferences, which will ultimately affect business requirements, which will further impact the iPhone App Development process. The release of Apple's new operating system, iOS 12 is also crucial in the wake of Google's Android Pie update and Google Pixel 3 launch, so the developers have a lot more learn and adjust to new technologies. Moving ahead, Apple has also launched a round of hardware, including A12 bionic, a 64-bit ARM-based system on a chip, which claims to be 15% faster and 40% more energy-efficient than A11.

The year 2018 will be remembered as the year that artificial intelligence (AI) hit the mainstream, but in 2019 and beyond it's going to be absolutely everywhere. This is because hardware and software developers have passed the trial period โ€“ experimenting to see where AI fits, and where it can deliver the biggest improvements in customer experience and productivity improvements.

Samsung's newest TVs will work with Google Assistant and Alexa

Engadget

Oh, the rumors were right. Samsung's new TVs are taking in all the services and features around. First it was Apple, and now Google Assistant will be coming to its newest sets later this year. As seen at Samsung's glitzy showcase on Thursday night (see above), and backed up by reports from CNET and The Verge, it's not the usual setup. New TVs will be able to respond to voice commands issued to Alexa and Google Assistant-powered smart speakers, not through the TV directly.

Conversational intelligence is another area that AI is making the biggest wave. Voice is not just an interface, but a personification of devices which is then mirrored on the brand. Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa, and the most recent Google Duplex are capable of carrying out almost seamless conversations. Conversational intelligence is extensively used in the BFSI sector to help customers navigate the loan management, insurance premium payments, or wealth advisories. With sophisticated algorithms, these Robo-advisors are able to provide the best price for loans, insurance premium calculation, or settle your tax returns.

Netatmo unveils the first HomeKit-friendly video doorbell

Engadget

Apple's HomeKit doesn't have a wide range of device support, but that's changing very shortly. Netatmo has unveiled the Smart Video Doorbell, which it says is the first doorbell to support HomeKit. You can view it through the Home app, or ask Siri to show you the doorbell when someone's waiting outside. And yes, it'll integrate nicely with your other devices -- you can turn on the porch lights the moment the device spots someone at the front door. You don't need an Apple-made device to control it, of course (there are also Android and web apps, not to mention IFTTT support).

Jabra's latest headphones automatically adjust to your surroundings

Engadget

At CES 2018, Jabra debuted its Elite 65t true wireless earbuds, an audio device that would eventually become one of our favorite headphones of the year. For CES this time around, the company has a more traditional new product: a set of over-ear noise-cancelling headphones. With the Elite 85h, Jabra offers an option that will help block out the world around you and provide hands-free access to your virtual assistant of choice for $299. Active noise cancellation (ANC) is great, but a lot of flagship headphones these days have some type of adaptive sound to adjust the feature to whatever environment you're in. Jabra has done just that.
