Why AI is Well-Suited for Business Communications

Business communications have traditionally been person to person--someone answers the phone, sends an email, etc. But in recent years, business communications have started incorporating automation in their IVRs, live chats and call routing. However, some businesses have moved beyond using automation in their business communications--they're using artificial intelligence. The popular collaboration platform uses bots to onboard users and interact with them for a variety of reasons. Narrative Science, the natural language generation platform, uses artificial intelligence to draft reports that read just like a human-written report would.


3D Printer Churns Out Instantly Working Robot

Researchers over at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) have come up with a new 3D printing process which is able to develop robots. What makes this process out of the ordinary is the fact that these robots are fully functional right from the moment in which they are finished printing. This new process has been streamlined, as the robot's solid and liquid hydraulic parts were developed in a single step. CSAIL Director Daniela Rus, who oversaw the project, shared, "Our approach, which we call'printable hydraulics,' is a step towards the rapid fabrication of functional machines. All you have to do is stick in a battery and motor, and you have a robot that can practically walk right out of the printer."


Birth of AI: Robots Reproducing in a Car Factory Spell Doom

The moment at which artificial intelligence becomes self-aware enough to overtake humanity is captured on film as robots in a technologically advanced car factory decide to take matters into their own hands and reproduce themselves instead of manufacturing vehicles. Produced for The History Channel and set in a Detroit car plant on an unspecified future date, 'ANA' by Factory Fifteen is one of a series of vignettes exploring an AI who realizes she can trick her not-so-bright human overseer and unite virtually all robots around the world into a single, powerful mechanical organism. Content in his belief that he's got everything under control, the factory worker browses news on his tablet and munches on fast food while the machines do all the work just beyond his control room windows. It isn't until he's alerted to a backlog on vehicle production that he notices something's wrong. Little does he know that ANA is watching him, analyzing his heart and respiration rate to gauge his response to her unexpected disobedience.

Google's A.I. can identify image locations - News Independent

The latest addition to Google's artificial intelligence is called PlaNet and it can identify the location of a photo just by looking at it. PlaNet was developed by Google computer vision specialist Tobias Weyand along with James Philbin, developer Ilya Kostrikov and other Google specialists. This new system uses the pixels in a photograph to determine familiar landmarks or unique architecture. Furthermore, this A.I. uses deep-learning nueral network which enables the program to become smarter as it sees more images. Its geotagging abilities were found to be far better than humans and other existing programs.

That's because the painting is the creation of a 3-D printer -- and not the Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn himself, who has been dead for almost 450 years. "The Next Rembrandt," as it's been dubbed, was the brain child of Bas Korsten, creative director at the advertising firm J. Walter Thompson in Amsterdam.

Lets say if two parameters are A and B, and the possible ranges specified are 0-2 and 0-3 respectively; The possible combinations in the parameter space in case of grid search would be (0,0) (0,1) (0,2) (0,3) ...........(2,2) (2,3). Although grid search can be made to run in parallel, still the technique is not computationally very efficient .

Rembrandt van Rijn was one of the most influential classical painters, and the world lost his amazing talent when he died nearly four centuries ago. And yet his newest masterpiece was unveiled only yesterday. By scanning and analyzing Rembrandt's works, a computer was able to create a new painting in near-perfect mimicry of Rembrandt's style. It has been named, appropriately, 'The Next Rembrandt'. The Next Rembrandt project began when, in October 2014, the Dutch financial institution ING spoke with J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam advertising agency about creating a project that would show innovation in Dutch art.


AI Defeats European Champion At The Board Game Go: World Champion Lee Sedol Is Its Next Opponent

Google's AlphaGo AI swept all of its five matches against European Go champion Fan Hui. Now, the team behind the deep-learning program is preparing for AlphaGo's upcoming match against world champion Lee Sedol in March. After soundly beating the reigning European Go champion, Google's AI computer is looking to go head-to-head with one of the best players in the world in a match set to be held in South Korea in March. In a study featured in the journal Nature, researchers from Google's London-based AI company DeepMind described how their AlphaGo program was able to win all five of its Go matches against the European champion Fan Hui. Go, a board game that was invented in China some 2,500 years ago, involves having players alternately place white and black "stones" on a grid consisting of 19 vertical and 19 horizontal lines.


Nvidia Places Bet on Artificial Intelligence With New Chip

Nvidia Corporation has built a new deep-learning chip, the Tesla P100, with 15 billion transistors for deep-learning computing. The Santa Clara technology firm is betting that its computer graphics expertise will aid in making a name for itself in artificial intelligence and virtual reality. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said that it is the biggest chip ever made. The company also unveiled a machine that uses the chip to perform scientific computing at extremely high-speed. PC World reports that the American technology company's new massive chip packs numerous cutting-edge technologies such as second-gen high-bandwidth memory; the tech firm's own Pascal GPU architecture; 16nmFinFET transistors; and Nvidia's blazing-fast NVLink interconnect technology.
