Video games are taking longer to make, but why?

BBC News

Video games are taking longer to make, but why? It's been 84 years... or so says the meme. For video game fans, it can certainly feel like it, as the gap between big releases gets longer. Earlier this month Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel to 2017's Hollow Knight, was finally released . And don't get us started on Grand Theft Auto 6.

em South Park /em Has Somehow Become Even More Depraved in Its Skewering of the Trump Administration

Slate

In the month since the new season of South Park began airing, the infamous animated show has somehow become even more depraved, and I mean that as a compliment. In Wednesday night's episode, "Sickofancy," creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker continue their all-out satirical assault on the Trump administration, and once again the series takes no prisoners. At one point, South Park's version of President Donald Trump suggests inserting a (very real) trophy gifted to him by Apple CEO Tim Cook up the anus of Trump's boyfriend, Satan. By the episode's end, we even see one longtime character forced into a new role as the president's "cum rag." Hey, if I had to be subjected to this image, you do too.

Randy Travis stages stunning comeback with help from AI after devastating stroke

FOX News

Randy Travis and his wife Mary spoke with Fox News Digital at the ACMs last week about the AI technology that helped recreate Travis' voice after he suffered a stroke and why they hope people can see the good in its usage. Randy Travis is leaning into artificial intelligence (AI) to continue to produce new music, over a decade after his near-fatal stroke. In 2013, Travis' stroke left him with aphasia – which is the loss of ability to understand or express speech. With the help of AI and country musician James Dupré, Travis was able to produce two new songs since his stroke, "Where That Came From" in 2024 and now his latest single, "Horses in Heaven." He has been on his "More Life Tour" since last spring and recently extended dates through fall 2025.

8 Ways to deal with Continuous Variables in Predictive Modeling

@machinelearnbot

Let's come straight to the point on this one – there are only 2 types of variables you see – Continuous and Discrete. Further, discrete variables can divided into Nominal (categorical) and Ordinal. We did a post on how to handle categorical variables last week, so you would expect a similar post on continuous variable. Yes, you are right – In this article, we will explain all possible ways for a beginner to handle continuous variables while doing machine learning or statistical modeling. But, before we actually start, first things first. Simply put, if a variable can take any value between its minimum and maximum value, then it is called a continuous variable. By nature, a lot of things we deal with fall in this category: age, weight, height being some of them.

Google's bicoastal boutique bash marks the debut of a West Hollywood pop-up shop

Los Angeles Times

And now, thanks to the West Hollywood store – and a second one that opens simultaneously (its Tuesday night fete featured a performance by Solange Knowles) in New York City's Flatiron District – barely two weeks after those gizmos were unveiled the gadget-curious can fiddle with them up close and personal.

'Bones' Season 12, Episode 2 Review: The Brain In The Bot

Forbes - Tech

A couple of bickering trainers at a dog show lose track of their animals, who run into the woods and start feeding on a corpse. There is evidence all over the place, as well as indications of multiple scavengers. Based on tissue decomp, Saroyan puts time of death at about three to four days prior. Brennan estimates the victim was male based on the rugged linea aspera of the femur and in his 40s based on the degeneration of the femoral head. There is no sign of a struggle, but there is plastic fused to his wrist. Back at the Jeffersonian, Brennan and Daisy, who is now Dr. Wick, go over the body.

Treasure hunter's disappearance still a mystery after months

U.S. News

Fixated on computer screens and video monitors, an army of volunteers scattered across the country has been painstakingly reviewing hundreds of images and hours of footage recorded over the last four months, desperately hoping to find a single clue to the whereabouts of missing treasure hunter Randy Bilyeu. The Colorado man disappeared in early January in a remote part of northern New Mexico while searching for a 2 million cache of riches supposedly hidden several years ago by an eccentric antiquities dealer. From the shadow of a blue heron flying low over the Rio Grande to a scrap of cardboard, nothing has gotten passed the volunteers who are looking for Bilyeu. The group, linked through email and social media, is analyzing every stretch of the rugged canyons and plateaus along the river via drones and telephoto lenses. Some are searching by foot and boat.
