If you want to recapture the nostalgic haze of, uh, late 2022, Picsart has got you covered. The popular image editor just launched an AI-powered animated GIF generator. The major difference between earlier text-to-image platforms like DALL-E and Picsart's new tool is animation. DALL-E is best known for making static images, whereas Picsart's software creates animated GIFs, just like the ones you've been sending in group chats and social media platforms for years.

Picsart's artificial intelligence research team (PAIR) has built a new generative model that can create entirely new video content from only text descriptions. The technology, often described as text-to-video generative artificial intelligence (AI), has been released as an open-source demonstration on Twitter and has been published on GitHub and Hugging Face. The team behind it has also published a research paper describing the methodology. "Recent text-to-video generation approaches rely on computationally heavy training and require large-scale video datasets. In this paper, we introduce a new task of zero-shot text-to-video generation and propose a low-cost approach (without any training or optimization) by leveraging the power of existing text-to-image synthesis methods (e.g., Stable Diffusion), making them suitable for the video domain," the researchers explain.

Riding the generative AI wave, Picsart, the developer behind various photo and video editing apps for the web and mobile devices, is introducing a new iOS app that transforms photos and drawings into digital art. Called SketchAI, the app lets users sketch a picture or upload an existing image and apply different artistic styles to it. SketchAI is easy enough to use. It features several pre-selected styles that can applied to creations, including ink drawing, pencil sketch, and the artist-inspired "Da Vinci" and "Van Gogh." In addition to sketching or uploading a photo, users can add a prompt describing an image (e.g.

Trained on a library of over 1 million beats, samples and patterns, the system also has the benefit of being completely royalty-free, since each snippet it generates is a wholly original composition. "AI, of course, cannot replace human imagination, but it will become the new virtual creative assistant that will expand and fine-tune one's overall skills," PicsArt CEO Hovhannes Avoyan said. "In time, we'll begin to see more novice users being able to produce vastly superior content than they ever thought possible because of AI." Among the genres of music offered by the feature are "techno," "lofi" and "dub" as well as mood-based styles including"happy" or "romantic" and activity-based ones such as "study" or "yoga."
