Kamala, Dems talk about Trump 'weaponizing' DOJ. But guess who got there first?

FOX News

Vice President Kamala Harris recently warned donors in San Diego that Donald Trump has "threatened to weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies" if elected. Does our clueless vice president not get that half the country believes the Biden-Harris White House has been doing exactly that for over three years? While Joe Biden prattles on about threats to democracy, his Department of Justice has created the ultimate threat to democracy -- ruthlessly waging war on MAGA Republicans, Catholics, pro-life advocates, parents' groups -- anyone and everyone who does not buy into their progressive agenda. It is not just the outrageous legal persecution of the former president – the four dubious cases brought against Trump, each less credible than the last. It is not just Trump's conviction on flimsy charges brought by a politically-motivated district attorney and overseen by a clearly conflicted judge. DOJ CLAIMS IT CAN'T RELEASE BIDEN-HUR INTERVIEW DUE TO THREAT OF AI DEEPFAKES It is also the pursuit and prosecution of Trump allies including Peter Navarro, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, George Papadopoulos, Allen Weisselberg and Steve Bannon, all of whom have been sentenced to time in prison.

Right-to-Repair Advocates Question John Deere's New Promises

WIRED

Early this week, tractor maker John Deere said it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the American Farm Bureau Federation, an agricultural trade group, promising to make it easier for farmers to access tools and software needed to repair their own equipment. The deal looked like a concession from the agricultural equipment maker, a major target of the right-to-repair movement, which campaigns for better access to documents and tools needed for people to repair their own gear. But right-to-repair advocates say that despite some good points, the agreement changes little, and farmers still face unfair barriers to maintaining equipment they own. Kevin O'Reilly, a director of the right-to-repair campaign run by the US Public Interest Research Group, a grassroots lobbying organization, says the timing of Deere's deal suggests the company may be trying to quash recent interest in right-to-repair laws from state legislators. In the past two years, corn belt states including Nebraska and Missouri, and also Montana, have considered giving farmers a legal right to tools needed to repair their own equipment. But no laws have been passed.

John Deere vows to open up its tractor tech, but right-to-repair backers have doubts

Like many parts of modern life, tractors have gone high-tech, often running on advanced computer systems. But some manufacturers are tight-lipped about how these electronics work, making it difficult or nearly impossible for farmers and independent repair shops to diagnose and fix problems with the equipment. An agreement by John Deere may finally give farmers a greater hand in repairing the company's products.

New DoD Chief Digital Artificial Intelligence Office Launches

#artificialintelligence

The Defense Department must become a digital and artificial intelligence-enabled enterprise capable of operating at the speed and scale necessary to preserve its military advantage, according to a memorandum issued by Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen H. Hicks. The memorandum, published on defense.gov, John Sherman, DOD chief information officer, will serve as the acting chief digital and artificial intelligence officer until the position is filled permanently. "[It's] an honor to be able to help get this organization stood up while performing my chief information officer duties," Sherman said today in a Pentagon media roundtable, adding that he has worked closely with several organizations to make sure the CDAO effort is launched on a solid footing. "This is a key milestone for the department to become a digital AI-enabled enterprise," a senior DOD official said in the roundtable.

Ukraine to produce Turkish armed drones: Minister

Al Jazeera

Ukraine said it will build a factory to produce Turkish armed drones that Kyiv previously bought to use against pro-Russian separatists in the east, a deal that might upset Kyiv's adversary Moscow. "A land plot on which the factory will be built has already been chosen," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at a news conference on Thursday with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv. "There were a number of obstacles to the implementation [of this project] but all of them have been removed," he added, without providing further details. Pleased to welcome my Turkish colleague and friend @MevlutCavusoglu in Lviv and expand our diplomatic geography. Cavusoglu did not speak specifically about the subject but stressed that Kyiv and Ankara were "in the process of strengthening their relations in many sectors", including defence.

UAE, Britain ink defense research and AI tech deals. Here's what comes next.

#artificialintelligence

The United Arab Emirates and the U.K. recently signed a memorandum of understanding on artificial intelligence that would see the transfer of related knowledge, investment and standards. And the next day saw the UAE's Tawazun Economic Council sign a memo with the U.K. Ministry of Defence to strengthen cooperation in defense-related research and development. On Sept. 16, Mohamed bin Zayed, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the armed forces, met British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the U.K., when the two parties launched a "Partnership for the Future" between the two nations, which involved the AI effort. "The UK looks forward to further collaboration with the UAE Presidential Guard; between our two air forces through UK participation in the Advanced Tactical Leadership Course, with UK jets from the Carrier Strike Group, and increased land exercises in the UAE," read a joint communique released after the meeting. "Both countries have developed stronger industrial ties through collaboration in defence and security. This includes blossoming relationships, including Tawazun Economic Council and EDGE Group. The Leaders agreed on working together to support these emerging and future partnerships in order to promote prosperity whilst strengthening business opportunities for both."
