AiThority Interview with Will Hayes, CEO at Lucidworks
I have been at Lucidworks for about eight years. My background is in software engineering with an emphasis on analytics and distributed computing. I was brought in to Lucidworks by the board to lead the company through a transition from an open source support and services company to delivering proprietary search and AI solutions. We have a team of around 250 employees that are distributed across the country and the world. Back in 2005, pre-Lucidworks, I was a part of the founding team at Splunk.

How the Evolution of NLP Supports Personalized Digital Experiences
The personalized digital experience is all about communication The back and forth between companies and consumers is changing from the traditional outbound push strategy, to the more empowering experience that pulls users into the inbound interaction when they want to engage. Consumers are becoming more savvy but ultimately want to be understood, educated and not sold to. In order to do that, the digital experience needs to evolve towards “human”-like intelligence. Here’s what a personalized digital experience should communicate to a user: “Talk to me! I am listening!” “You don’t need special skills to talk to me. I am designed
Thought Leaders in Artificial Intelligence: Grant Ingersoll, CTO of Lucidworks (Part 1) Sramana Mitra
I have a background in search, machine learning, and natural language processing. I have been a long-time contributor to the Apache Solar and Apache Lucene search engine projects, which are both open sourced. Then I also wrote a book called Taming Text. We're focused on solving key problems for people on the customer experience side. On the retail side, we focus really on how we can help users or consumers, both pre and post sales, to find and engage with companies and their content.
Iterating on Machine Learning Algorithms Made Easy With Lucidworks Fusion 5.0
The new microservice in Lucidworks Fusion 5.0 enables easier operationalizing of models via containers and APIs SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lucidworks, a leader in AI-powered search, today announced native Python support in Fusion 5.0, the latest version of the company's flagship enterprise search product. The new feature opens up the option for data scientists to train and build models using their preferred machine learning and deep learning libraries while at the same time streamlining the way they can handoff the models for production into the Fusion index and query pipelines. Organizations are increasingly relying on data scientists and machine learning. However, the process of driving value from algorithms has been human-intensive. In many instances, once developed and trained, algorithms need to be translated/recoded into production system languages (like Java) before they can be deployed for indexing and querying.
5 Ways AI Is Impacting Modern Marketing
AI is already impacting digital marketing in obvious and not-so-obvious ways. In this article, by Lasya Marla, Director of Product, Lucidworks, we briefly go over AI's role in modern marketing in ways that some people may not be familiar with, and 5 ways that it has impacted how companies market their content Marketing and technology have long had an important relationship. Marketers are consistently looking for new and creative ways to share their products with potential customers and measure results, and customers are in-turn looking for more meaningful experiences when spending their money on the things they are looking to buy. In the marketing world, this action taken by a prospect, customer, or shopper is referred to as a conversion., Making conversions happen is more challenging than ever in a world filled with distractions. Companies are increasingly competing over proving not just a smooth purchase process - but one that is as convenient as possible.
Lucidworks - Machine Learning for Search Engines - Nanalyze
Lucidworks has technically raised about $59 million since it was founded about a decade ago in 2007 and last took in $6 million debt financing in 2016. However, Hayes says he hit the reset button when he took the reins in 2014, so the official war chest stands at about $23 million. The shuffle makes Lucidworks a Series D company playing in a Series B ballpark, as it prepares to raise a new round of money. Its Series $21 million Series D raise in 2015 included Allegis Capital, Shasta Ventures and Granite Ventures.
ML Model Training and Prediction Using Lucidworks Fusion Lucidworks
Running a Fusion ML job runs a Spark job behind the scenes and saves the output model into Fusion blob store. The saved output model can be used later at query or index time. Fusion ML job output shows counters for the number of labels it trained on. When the job is finished, the ML model is accessible from the Fusion blob store. After the model is trained through a Spark job, it can be used in both query and index pipelines. In this example, I will show how to use it in an index pipeline to generate predictions on documents before they are indexed. The index pipeline is configured with an ML stage that is configured to take input field'body_t' and output the prediction into a new field'the_newsgroup_s'. The model id in the stage should be the trained model name.
For The Battered Retail Industry, Machine Learning Has To Be About Sales - ARC
More and more, the forecasters of technology and the global economy are saying that the road to economic empowerment will be led by machine learning and artificial intelligence. Accenture and Frontier Economics predict artificial intelligence will double the economic growth of the world's 12 biggest economies by 2025. In a different report, Accenture forecasts the unlocking of $2.95 trillion in economic value by retailers and consumer goods companies over the next decade by adopting digital solutions and adapted business models. If it can stay afloat long enough to make the evolution a reality. Almost every week we hear about new layoffs, massive store closing and weak earnings.
