In Ukraine's 'kill-zone', robots are a lifeline to troops trapped on perilous eastern front
In Ukraine's'kill-zone', robots are a lifeline to troops trapped on perilous eastern front The toy is delivered, a Ukrainian soldier whispers into the radio. In the dead of night, he and his partner move quickly to roll out their cargo from a van. Speed is crucial as they are within the range of deadly Russian drones. The fifth brigade's new toy is an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), a robot that provides a lifeline for Ukrainian troops at the front in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd, a strategic hub in eastern Ukraine. Russian forces are relentlessly trying to cut off Ukraine's supply routes in the area.

'It is a war of drones now': the ever-evolving tech dominating the frontline in Ukraine
"It's more exhausting," says Afer, a deputy commander of the "Da Vinci Wolves", describing how one of the best-known battalions in Ukraine has to defend against constant Russian attacks. Where once the invaders might have tried small group assaults with armoured vehicles, now the tactic is to try and sneak through on foot one by one, evading frontline Ukrainian drones, and find somewhere to hide. Under what little cover remains, survivors then try to gather a group of 10 or so and attack Ukrainian positions. It is costly – "in the last 24 hours we killed 11," Afer says – but the assaults that previously might have happened once or twice a day are now relentless. To the Da Vinci commander it seems that the Russians are terrified of their own officers, which is why they follow near suicidal orders.

'At this point it's not just a game': the making of Ukrainian RPG Stalker 2 – during wartime
As the 400 employees of GSC Game World, creators of the hit video game Stalker, filtered into their Kyiv office in January 2022, most didn't even notice the strange buses parked around the corner. While tensions were growing with their neighbours across the border, the frost-coated shlep to the office felt almost normal. Or so they told themselves. As whispers of war spread throughout the country, regular reassurances from their business partners – and President Zelenskiy – made it seem foolish to worry. Life, they were told, would carry on as usual.

Russia launches missiles on Ukrainian towns on Christmas, claims Ukraine military
Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich joined'America's Newsroom' to discuss Zelenskyy's visit to the White House to request additional aid in the war against Russia. Russian forces continued to wage war on Ukraine over the holiday weekend, with more than 40 missiles being launched into Ukrainian towns on Christmas day, according to Ukraine's military. According to Russian news agencies, which cited the country's defense ministry, three Russian military personnel were killed Monday by falling wreckage of a Ukrainian drone that was shot down as it was on its way to attack a base in Russia's Saratov region. Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated Sunday that he was open to negotiations and accused Ukraine and its Western allies of not engaging in talks. The U.S. has previously dismissed this stance from Russia as posturing given the ongoing attack on Ukraine.

Nurses on the frontlines of care and innovation
The role of nurses is manifold. Beyond being caretakers, they often also take up the mantles of patient advocacy, patient education, administration, emotional support, and more. In Singapore's Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), nurses don an additional hat as innovators. The hospital is home to the Nursing Innovation Bunch (NIB), a group dedicated to creating novel solutions to address the day-to-day pain points identified by hospital staff. The NIB was established in 2020, and joins other innovation initiatives like the hospital's Centre for Healthcare Innovation Living Lab to bring the ideas of nurses, healthcare workers and other allied health professionals to life.
