Munich airport halts flights after drone sightings; passengers stranded
Germany's Munich airport has resumed operations after drone sightings led to the cancellation of 17 flights, the diversion of 15 others and the stranding of some 3,000 passengers. Flights had restarted by early Friday, with flight tracking websites showing planes departing the airport at about 5:50am (03:50 GMT). At least 19 Lufthansa flights were affected, either cancelled or re-routed, because of the airport suspension, the spokesperson added. Earlier, the airport said that drone sightings were first reported by German air traffic control at 10:18pm local time [20:18 GMT] on Thursday, leading initially to a restriction on flights, which was then upgraded to a full suspension. Germany's DPA news agency said police reported that several people had seen a drone near the airport, with later sightings of a drone over the airport grounds.

French troops board oil tanker linked to Russian 'shadow fleet'
French troops board oil tanker linked to Russian'shadow fleet' French soldiers have boarded an oil tanker believed to be part of Russia's shadow fleet, used to evade sanctions imposed because of the war in Ukraine. The Boracay left Russia last month and was off the coast of Denmark when unidentified drones forced the temporary closure of several airports last week. It has been anchored off western France for a few days. French President Emmanuel Macron said at an EU leaders' summit in Copenhagen on Wednesday that the crew had committed serious offences, but did not elaborate. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia had no knowledge of the vessel.

Danish PM warns that Russia is waging hybrid war on Europe
Can Ukraine restore its pre-war borders? Why are Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine a'red line' for Russia? Is Russia testing NATO with aerial incursions in Europe? Macron, Meloni argue for caution in responding to Russian'provocations' Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has called on Europe to arm itself to respond to Russia's hybrid warfare, but other major continental leaders have argued for caution against getting trapped in a tit-for-tat cycle of escalation with Moscow. "I hope that everybody recognises now that there is a hybrid war and one day it's Poland, the other day it's Denmark, and next week it will probably be somewhere else that we see sabotage or we see drones flying," Frederiksen told reporters on Wednesday.

European leaders meet in high-security Danish summit after drone disruption
Danish PM calls for strong answer from EU leaders to Russia's hybrid attacks EU leaders have met in Copenhagen under pressure to boost European defence after a series of Russian incursions into EU airspace, and days after drones targeted Danish airports. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told reporters that from a European perspective there is only one country... willing to threaten us and that is Russia, and therefore we need a very strong answer back. The incursions have become most acute for countries on the EU's eastern flank such as Poland and Estonia. A number of member states have already backed plans for a multi-layered drone wall to quickly detect, then track and destroy Russian drones. We meet at a time when Russia have intensified their attacks in Ukraine, where we have seen Russian airspace violations and unwanted drone activity in several European countries, Frederiksen told a news conference after the talks had concluded.

Russia's involvement in drone sightings cannot be ruled out, Danish PM says
Russia's involvement in drone sightings cannot be ruled out, Danish PM says The drone incursion that stopped flights at Copenhagen airport on Monday night was the most severe attack on Danish infrastructure so far, Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said. Kastrup airport in Copenhagen was forced to shut for several hours from around 20:30 (18:30 GMT) on Monday following the sighting of a number of drones. It says something about the times we live in and what we as a society must be prepared to deal with, Frederiksen told reporters. Russian involvement could not be ruled out, Frederiksen added - although Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the allegations unfounded. The Danish PM made a link between last night's events in Denmark and the recent Russian drone incursions in Poland and Romania, as well as the violation of Estonian airspace by Russian fighter jets .

Ukraine's Zelenskyy says Russia's 'big revenge' has begun
Russia has begun its "big revenge" for Ukraine's resistance to its invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, as Russian forces claimed a series of incremental gains in his country's east. Zelenskyy has been warning for weeks that Moscow aims to step up its assault on Ukraine after about two months of virtual stalemate along the front line that stretches across the south and east. While there was no sign of a broader new offensive on Monday, the administrator of Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine's eastern Donetsk province, Denis Pushilin, said Russian troops had secured a foothold in Vuhledar, a coal mining town whose ruins have been a Ukrainian bastion since the outset of the war. Pushilin's adviser, Yan Gagin, said fighters from Russian mercenary force Wagner had taken partial control of a supply road leading to Bakhmut, a city that has been the focus of a Russian offensive for months. A day earlier, the head of Wagner said his fighters had secured Blahodatne, a village just north of Bakhmut.

Devs don't trust AI in software testing
AI-based testing has the potential to help solve software quality issues, but it faces significant roadblocks on the way to widespread adoption. Automated testing uses software tools to automate the manual testing process. Testers can use traditional rules- or code-based scripts or AI -- which builds, initiates and runs testing models without human intervention. AI-powered tools such as Selenium IDE-compatible Katalon Studio, mabl and Functionize can free developers from mundane task repetition and monitor complex systems for vulnerabilities. However, a distrust of the inchoate technology hinders adoption rates, according to industry experts.
Combining Artificial Intelligence, Art and VR in Innovatus
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are new technologies that some companies are innovators are experimenting with in order to develop new products and services. The world of art does not seem to be a natural fit for application of these technologies at first, but content creator Nathalie Frederiksen is working on combining AI with cinematic art and virtual reality (VR). Nathalie Frederiksen is working on a project called Innovatus which aims to combine AI, high-quality performance art with immersive VR. The project will be the largest that Nathalie Frederiksen has worked on so far. Full details on what Innovatus will entail have yet to be revealed, but indications are that it will involve'human simulation technology'.

Supporting STEM Learning With Gaming Technologies: Principles For Effective Design
Borge, Marcela (The College of Information Sciences and Technology, The Pennsylvania State University) | White, Barbara Y. (University of California at Berkeley)
In this paper, methods and models for the design of educational interventions and usable systems are presented and synthesized. The purpose is to suplliment the design process with educational considerations and discern design principles for the development of serious STEM games. This synthesis can contribute to the design of the next generation of technologically enhanced learning environments.
