FAA Plan to Cut Flights Might Not Be an Utter Nightmare
The US government is aiming to ease the pressure on air traffic controllers suffering shutdown-related woes by curtailing flights. But airlines have experience with this kind of sudden disruption. Newark Liberty International Airport is one of the high-traffic airports that could see flight cuts starting Friday. The US Federal Aviation Administration plans to cut 10 percent of flights in 40 high-traffic airports on Friday morning if Congress fails to reopen the federal government by then, Transportation secretary Sean Duffy and FAA chief Bryan Bedford said Wednesday. The announcement came days after the US agency said it faced widespread shortages of air traffic controllers in half of the country's 30 busiest airports and hours-long security lines caused by absences of Transportation Security Administration agents.

NASA's Boss Just Shook Up the Agency's Plans to Land on the Moon
NASA's Boss Just Shook Up the Agency's Plans to Land on the Moon Sean Duffy called out SpaceX for being "behind schedule" on a lunar lander and said he'd explore other options. NASA acting administrator Sean Duffy made two television appearances on Monday morning in which he shook up the space agency's plans to return humans to the moon. Speaking on Fox News, where the secretary of transportation frequently appears in his acting role as NASA chief, Duffy said SpaceX has fallen behind in its efforts to develop the Starship vehicle as a lunar lander. Duffy also indirectly acknowledged that NASA's projected target of a 2027 crewed lunar landing is no longer achievable. Accordingly, he said he intended to expand the competition to develop a lander capable of carrying humans down to the moon from lunar orbit and back.

The Shutdown Is Pushing Air Safety Workers to the Limit
Federal employees say that flying is still safe despite the strain on air traffic controllers. But expect even more airport delays ahead. It hasn't been a good year for federal aviation safety workers. January saw the worst US commercial airline disaster in decades, quickly followed by sudden layoffs, staffing shortfalls, major technology glitches at one of the nation's busiest airports, and short timelines to rebuild the systems that govern national airspace. It somehow got worse this month, when a stalemate between congressional Republicans and Democrats led to a government shutdown.

Trump admin threatens to cut millions in federal funding from 3 states over trucker English language rules
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier says the state will'protect citizens at all costs' on'America Reports.' California, Washington and New Mexico may lose millions of dollars in federal funding if they continue to fail to enforce English language requirements for truckers, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Tuesday. Duffy said the three states have 30 days to comply with federal English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements after an investigation into a deadly crash in Florida earlier this month revealed the states made significant failures regarding the illegal immigrant truck driver who made an illegal U-turn. "This is about keeping people safe on the road. Your families, your kids, your spouses, your loved ones, your friends," Duffy said. "We all use the roadway, and we need to make sure that those who are driving big rigs -- semis -- can understand the road signs, that they've been well-trained."

A-levels and GCSEs need overhaul to keep pace with generative AI, experts say
Oral assessments, more security checks and speedier marking are all on the cards as generative artificial intelligence (AI) could transform exams for the next generation of students. As the 2025 exam season drew to a close with GCSE students picking up their results on Thursday, after mostly sitting traditional pen and paper exams, AI is already changing the landscape. Exam preparation is undergoing a revolution, with students increasingly creating personal AI tutors, available around the clock to generate learning materials to suit individual needs that potentially lead to better results. "Using AI can give a student a much better understanding of a subject because they can ask those questions they wouldn't ask in class, or at odd hours, without being judged," said Dr Andrew Rogoyski of the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI. "It really took off this summer," said Sandra Leaton Gray, a professor of education futures at University College London's Institute of Education. "So they're able to talk to it about the marking frameworks that are in use and upload those, and then they're able to do sample answers on their own. And then they're able to say to the AI: 'How would you improve the answer?' It's like having a tireless tutor."
Inside NASA's fast-track plans for lunar nuclear power and new space stations to outpace global rivals
Acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy explains how the agency's Artemis program aims to return Americans to the Moon on'Hannity.' Amid significant budget cuts, NASA is fast-tracking the development of nuclear reactors on the moon and next-generation space stations with one clear objective: beating U.S. adversaries in the new space race. Two new memos signed by interim NASA chief and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy outline a bold strategy to secure strategic ground on the moon. The centerpiece of this effort is a lunar nuclear reactor, a renewable and stable power source to support long-term exploration. "The goal is to power everything," a senior NASA official told Fox News Digital. "Our systems, habitats, rovers, robotic equipment, even future mining operations -- everything we want to do on the moon depends on this."

US lawmakers criticise possible AI use in personalised flight ticket prices
United States Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says there are concerns about the use of artificial intelligence to set personalised airline prices, echoing red flags brought up by three Democratic senators. Duffy on Tuesday promised to investigate any airline that uses the technology to set prices. "To try to individualise pricing on seats based on how much you make or don't make or who you are, I can guarantee you that we will investigate if anyone does that," Duffy said. "We would engage very strongly if any company tries to use AI to individually price their seating." Duffy noted Delta clarified that it would not use AI for pricing individual tickets, "and I'll take them at face value."

Transportation Department deploying artificial intelligence to spot air traffic dangers, Duffy says
Fox News chief Washington correspondent Mike Emanuel has the latest on Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's statements about recent air traffic control incidents on'Special Report.' Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy recently announced that artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to detect and address air traffic risks, following a slew of near-misses and fatal plane crashes across the country. Duffy told FOX 5 DC that officials are implementing AI to "identify and address potential air traffic risks nationwide," potentially aiding in preventing tragedies like the fatal Jan. 29 midair collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) that claimed the lives of 67 people. Following the Potomac River crash, which involved a commercial plane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter, Duffy announced a plan to build a new "state-of-the-art" traffic control system that will equip locations with better technology to reduce outages, improve efficiency and reinforce safety. Duffy told FOX 5 that when investigators were looking into how to prevent collisions, they asked themselves, "Are there any other DCAs out there?" Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy speaks during a news conference following up on the issuance of the National Transportation Safety Board preliminary report on the mid-air collision near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, on Tuesday, March 11.
