Grocery retailers are among the first to embrace ChatGPT

#artificialintelligence

Separately, in February French grocery chain Carrefour produced its first-ever video made with ChatGPT answering FAQs. The 30-second video has a robot speaking in French and answering common questions from customers like "how to eat better and cheaper via its website." Carrefour's Chief E-commerce Officer Elodie Perthuisot wrote in a LinkedIn post that Carrefour Carrefour's "data and innovation teams are currently working on the use cases of ChatGPT, and generative AI in general." Analysts and grocery tech executives that Modern Retail spoke with said while all types of retailers are excited about using ChatGPT, grocers have compelling reasons to jump into this head first, for a few reasons. For starters, grocers have among the most diverse customer base.

What does the future of shopping with AI look like?

#artificialintelligence

The retail experience is evolving with artificial intelligence (AI) changing how items can be bought and sold. Inventory robots can automatically restock shelves and sensors can track customer traffic patterns to identify optimum store layout. Opportunities for cross-selling and digital signage can be edited for specific audiences, providing up-to-the-minute information to motivate consumers, such as alerting them to when stocks are running low. Augmented reality (AR) is also enhancing the retail experience. In homeware, a consumer can upload an image of their room and redecorate it using AR to view different colour schemes and choose suitable accessories, suggested by computers.

Contextual Sentence Classification: Detecting Sustainability Initiatives in Company Reports

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

We introduce the novel task of detecting sustainability initiatives in company reports. Given a full report, the aim is to automatically identify mentions of practical activities that a company has performed in order to tackle specific societal issues. As a single initiative can often be described over multiples sentences, new methods for identifying continuous sentence spans needs to be developed. We release a new dataset of company reports in which the text has been manually annotated with sustainability initiatives. We also evaluate different models for initiative detection, introducing a novel aggregation and evaluation methodology. Our proposed architecture uses sequences of five consecutive sentences to account for contextual information when making classification decisions at the individual sentence level.

OracleVoice: Carrefour Positioned At Intersection Of Personalization And Service

Forbes - Tech

Carrefour, the French supermarket giant whose name translates to "intersection," is building a new service capability to support its broad omnichannel strategy. The company is rolling out modern apps, such as one that makes it easier for consumers to shop using mobile devices and pick up their groceries without having to leave their cars--or their homes, for that matter. It's also adding modern capabilities that help customer service agents provide more efficient assistance, whether consumers are reaching out via email, web chat, or phone. These types of capabilities are growing in importance. Some 54% of consumers expect "promotions and offerings that are more relevant to me," and 25% are looking for a "more personalized experience," according to a survey by consulting firm Morar, conducted on behalf of Oracle.
