Where is AI used today? - Brought to you by ITChronicles

#artificialintelligence

AI technologies are able to understand, analyze, and learn from data through specially designed algorithms, which are complex mathematical formulas and operations. There are various fields of artificial intelligence. Machine learning or ML, for example, is the ability of a machine to improve its performance via algorithms that work on previous results or interactions with the system. This allows ML technologies to learn without being explicitly programmed and to have multiple applications. Other types of artificial intelligence include deep learning, a branch of machine learning that employs sophisticated artificial neural networks inspired by the human nervous system to learn from data that doesn't need to be structured (unlike machine learning), and natural language processing (NLP), a linguistic tool enabling machines to read and interpret human language.

Today's In-Flight Experience Is Brought to You By Machine Learning

#artificialintelligence

Research suggests that airline passengers are open to personalization and even expect airlines to anticipate their needs. Singapore Airlines is one of Panasonic Avionics' partners leveraging passenger data to create a more consistent experience throughout a customer's entire flight journey. The two companies collaborated to create a mobile app, myKrisWorld, that acts as a personalized portal for passengers at every stage of their travel: from pre-flight booking, mobile check-in, and luggage tracking. They can also customize the portal to a specific language, bookmark favorite content and be served recommended content based on their browsing and viewing history.

Data-Driven Shows in Action – Brought to You by NETFLIX!

#artificialintelligence

"Nobody, nobody – not now, not ever – knows the least goddam thing about what is or isn't going to work at the box office." Fast forward five years, a show based on real lives of women prisoners shook up the world of television. Dark humor, Sci-fi, Comedy, and a diverse cast – you got that right. A company that started off with a DVD rent-by-mail website is the 10th largest internet company by revenue across the globe today. Back in 1997, a man whose resume highlighted'software geek' and'movie'buff' rented Apollo 13 from Blockbuster (the biggest video-rental chain then).

What Brought 'Sense8' Back--and What Killed It in the First Place

WIRED

I have a hard time recommending science fiction TV shows to anyone. Not because I don't watch and enjoy an inordinate amount of sci-fi (I do), but because when it comes to television, I'm John Wick levels of cursed. Everything I love--the stuff that's weird and complicated and doesn't just export Earth's injustices into space--is doomed. Today is a bright spot for the fans still wallpapering the internet with GIFs of Firefly, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and all other genre shows cancelled but not forgotten. The Wachowski siblings' Sense8, a sci-fi drama that Netflix canceled last summer after two seasons, is returning today with a two-hour finale.

The Celebrity Chatbot I Almost Brought To Life – Chatbots Magazine

#artificialintelligence

Bot messages that were broken down into 2–3 smaller messages but sent at the same time, were counted as one message. This was the cold user flow. To keep the user within the system for a bare minimum time and then let the user explore things on its own. Whether the ideal number should have been 60 or 100, I don't know. I was planning to crunch the data once the bot started having live interactions -- which of course never happened.

Brought to you by the letters A and I: Sesame Workshop, IBM developing edtech for pre-schoolers

#artificialintelligence

If you think Tickle Me Elmo is freaky already, wait until those talking monsters can beat you at Jeopardy!. Sesame Workshop, the educational nonprofit behind Sesame Street and its iconic characters, this week announced a partnership with IBM Watson to develop edtech for pre-school children. Sesame Workshop is no newcomer to tech. The organization previously set up a venture fund in partnership with Collaborative Fund. And they currently offer mobile games, story apps, e-books and digital Family Toolkits to help parents and caregivers navigate challenging topics like autism, incarceration, and more.
