AmadeusGPT: a natural language interface for interactive animal behavioral analysis
The process of quantifying and analyzing animal behavior involves translating the naturally occurring descriptive language of their actions into machine-readable code. Yet, codifying behavior analysis is often challenging without deep understanding of animal behavior and technical machine learning knowledge. To limit this gap, we introduce AmadeusGPT: a natural language interface that turns natural language descriptions of behaviors into machine-executable code. Large-language models (LLMs) such as GPT3.5 and GPT4 allow for interactive language-based queries that are potentially well suited for making interactive behavior analysis. However, the comprehension capability of these LLMs is limited by the context window size, which prevents it from remembering distant conversations.
LLM-based Multi-class Attack Analysis and Mitigation Framework in IoT/IIoT Networks
Ikbarieh, Seif, Gupta, Maanak, Mahalal, Elmahedi
The Internet of Things has expanded rapidly, transforming communication and operations across industries but also increasing the attack surface and security breaches. Artificial Intelligence plays a key role in securing IoT, enabling attack detection, attack behavior analysis, and mitigation suggestion. Despite advancements, evaluations remain purely qualitative, and the lack of a standardized, objective benchmark for quantitatively measuring AI-based attack analysis and mitigation hinders consistent assessment of model effectiveness. In this work, we propose a hybrid framework combining Machine Learning (ML) for multi-class attack detection with Large Language Models (LLMs) for attack behavior analysis and mitigation suggestion. After benchmarking several ML and Deep Learning (DL) classifiers on the Edge-IIoTset and CICIoT2023 datasets, we applied structured role-play prompt engineering with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to guide ChatGPT-o3 and DeepSeek-R1 in producing detailed, context-aware responses. We introduce novel evaluation metrics for quantitative assessment to guide us and an ensemble of judge LLMs, namely ChatGPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3, Mixtral 8x7B Instruct, Gemini 2.5 Flash, Meta Llama 4, TII Falcon H1 34B Instruct, xAI Grok 3, and Claude 4 Sonnet, to independently evaluate the responses. Results show that Random Forest has the best detection model, and ChatGPT-o3 outperformed DeepSeek-R1 in attack analysis and mitigation.

Animal behavior analysis plays a crucial role in understanding animal welfare, health status, and productivity in agricultural settings. However, traditional manual observation methods are time-consuming, subjective, and limited in scalability. We present a modular pipeline that leverages open-sourced state-of-the-art computer vision techniques to automate animal behavior analysis in a group housing environment. Our approach combines state-of-the-art models for zero-shot object detection, motion-aware tracking and segmentation, and advanced feature extraction using vision transformers for robust behavior recognition. The pipeline addresses challenges including animal occlusions and group housing scenarios as demonstrated in indoor pig monitoring. We validated our system on the Edinburgh Pig Behavior Video Dataset for multiple behavioral tasks. Our temporal model achieved 94.2% overall accuracy, representing a 21.2 percentage point improvement over existing methods. The pipeline demonstrated robust tracking capabilities with 93.3% identity preservation score and 89.3% object detection precision. The modular design suggests potential for adaptation to other contexts, though further validation across species would be required. The open-source implementation provides a scalable solution for behavior monitoring, contributing to precision pig farming and welfare assessment through automated, objective, and continuous analysis.

From Motion Signals to Insights: A Unified Framework for Student Behavior Analysis and Feedback in Physical Education Classes
Gao, Xian, Ruan, Jiacheng, Gao, Jingsheng, Xie, Mingye, Zhang, Zongyun, Liu, Ting, Fu, Yuzhuo
Analyzing student behavior in educational scenarios is crucial for enhancing teaching quality and student engagement. Existing AI-based models often rely on classroom video footage to identify and analyze student behavior. While these video-based methods can partially capture and analyze student actions, they struggle to accurately track each student's actions in physical education classes, which take place in outdoor, open spaces with diverse activities, and are challenging to generalize to the specialized technical movements involved in these settings. Furthermore, current methods typically lack the ability to integrate specialized pedagogical knowledge, limiting their ability to provide in-depth insights into student behavior and offer feedback for optimizing instructional design. To address these limitations, we propose a unified end-to-end framework that leverages human activity recognition technologies based on motion signals, combined with advanced large language models, to conduct more detailed analyses and feedback of student behavior in physical education classes. Our framework begins with the teacher's instructional designs and the motion signals from students during physical education sessions, ultimately generating automated reports with teaching insights and suggestions for improving both learning and class instructions. This solution provides a motion signal-based approach for analyzing student behavior and optimizing instructional design tailored to physical education classes. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework can accurately identify student behaviors and produce meaningful pedagogical insights.

Integrating behavior analysis with machine learning to predict online learning performance: A scientometric review and empirical study
Yuan, Jin, Qiu, Xuelan, Wu, Jinran, Guo, Jiesi, Li, Weide, Wang, You-Gan
The interest in predicting online learning performance using ML algorithms has been steadily increasing. We first conducted a scientometric analysis to provide a systematic review of research in this area. The findings show that most existing studies apply the ML methods without considering learning behavior patterns, which may compromise the prediction accuracy and precision of the ML methods. This study proposes an integration framework that blends learning behavior analysis with ML algorithms to enhance the prediction accuracy of students' online learning performance. Specifically, the framework identifies distinct learning patterns among students by employing clustering analysis and implements various ML algorithms to predict performance within each pattern. For demonstration, the integration framework is applied to a real dataset from edX and distinguishes two learning patterns, as in, low autonomy students and motivated students. The results show that the framework yields nearly perfect prediction performance for autonomous students and satisfactory performance for motivated students. Additionally, this study compares the prediction performance of the integration framework to that of directly applying ML methods without learning behavior analysis using comprehensive evaluation metrics. The results consistently demonstrate the superiority of the integration framework over the direct approach, particularly when integrated with the best-performing XGBoosting method. Moreover, the framework significantly improves prediction accuracy for the motivated students and for the worst-performing random forest method. This study also evaluates the importance of various learning behaviors within each pattern using LightGBM with SHAP values. The implications of the integration framework and the results for online education practice and future research are discussed.
