Dating app Badoo allows you to add video clips from your MUM on your profile
The saying goes that'mother knows best', and now struggling singletons can enlist their mum's help finding love online. Dating app, Badoo, now lets you add video clips from your family members to your dating profile. The unusual tool is part of Badoo's new'Family-Approved' feature, which allows users to show that they've called on their family to help them land a date. 'Family-Approved is here to help singles feel good right from the start of their dating journey, whilst also showing potential matches when profiles have had the trusted green light from their loved ones - which could be a fun icebreaker when starting a conversation!'

Dating app Badoo launches a 'rude message detector'
Dating app Badoo has launched a'Rude Message Detector' that will automatically flag any insulting, discriminatory or overly sexual messages. The tool uses machine learning, a form of artificial intelligence (AI), to distinguish between'banter' and actual verbal abuse, such as'identity hate' towards transgender people. It's able to identify abusive or hurtful messages sent between chat partners in real time, and then gives users the option to immediately block and report them. Badoo, which has been described as'like Facebook but for sex', says the tool is one of the latest steps in its'wider commitment to safety'. It's been rolled out for all Badoo users worldwide, whether or not they're chatting to a man or a woman.

Cupid's needle? UK under-30s wooed with dating app vaccine bonus
First came the idea of making Covid vaccinations mandatory to go to the pub, while Israel offered free pizza and beer with a shot. Now UK officials have hit on what they hope is an even more persuasive reason for young people to get their jab: more chance of getting a date. In an eye-catching policy coinciding with the rollout of vaccinations for the under-30s beginning this week, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has teamed up with popular dating apps to encourage take-up of the programme. Users of Tinder, Match, Hinge, Bumble, Badoo, Plenty of Fish, OurTime and Muzmatch will enjoy a series of benefits if they add their vaccination status to their profile, including virtual badges and stickers. Most of the apps are also giving people who say they have been vaccinated free bonuses such as a certain number of "boosts", which promote their profile to potential dates, offering the tantalising prospect of a greater stake in what has already been billed a post-pandemic "summer of love".

Dating app Badoo uses AI to blur unwanted intimate photos
Dating app Badoo has launched a new safety feature that uses AI to detect unsolicited nudes that get sent through the app. Badoo, which has been described as'like Facebook but for sex', says its'private detector' has a 98 per cent accuracy rate when covering up intimate photos. The feature's AI identifies potentially offending photos, automatically blurs them and gives users a warning that they could contain'inappropriate content'. Users are then given the choice to open and view the content or block the explicit image and report it to the app's moderation team. The feature was introduced to the'feminist dating app' Bumble last year, which is owned by the same holding company as Badoo.
Dating apps use artificial intelligence to help search for love
LISBON: Forget swiping through endless profiles. Dating apps are using artificial intelligence to suggest where to go on a first date, recommend what to say and even find a partner who looks like your favourite celebrity. Until recently smartphone dating apps - such as Tinder which lets you see in real time who is available and "swipe" if you wish to meet someone - left it up to users to ask someone out and then make the date go well. But to fight growing fatigue from searching through profiles in vain, the online dating sector is turning to artificial intelligence (AI) to help arrange meetings in real life and act as a dating coach. These new uses for AI - the science of programming computers to reproduce human processes like thinking and decision making - by dating apps were highlighted at the four-day Web Summit which wraps up Thursday in Lisbon.

Tinder, Bumble and Happn can reveal your messages and the profiles you've been viewing
Criminals can use shortcomings in popular dating apps, including Tinder, Bumble and Happn, to see users' messages and find out which profiles they've been viewing. As well as having the potential to cause major embarrassment, the exploits could lead to dating app users being identified, located, stalked and even blackmailed. The researchers, from Kaspersky Lab, studied the Android and iOS versions of Tinder, Bumble, Happn, OKCupid, Badoo, Mamba, Zoosk, WeChat and Paktor. They said it was "fairly easy" to find out a user's real name from their bio, as a number of dating apps allow you to add information about your job and education to your profile. Using these details, the researchers managed to find users' pages on various social media platforms, including Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as their full names and surnames, in 60 per cent of cases.
Dating app Badoo adds video chat to help you filter out creeps
Dating apps have been slow to adopt video functionality. Big shot Tinder bought a video service in February but hasn't announced plans to add its functionality, while Hinge just included user-made movie clips for profiles -- a feature that Badoo launched last year. Today, the UK-based dating service is taking another step forward and adding video chat straight into the app, so users can move past text and talk in real-time. You'll have to exchange at least one message each before video chats become available, so at least users won't get spammed with calls from randos they haven't chatted with. Badoo is pitching it as an added layer of security, giving folks the opportunity to see if anybody sets off their creep alarms before meeting in person.

Badoo Releases Photo Verification For Online Daters To Avoid 'Catfishing'
One dating app is on a mission to end "catfishing," the term for someone having a fictional persona online and trying to get into a relationship. Badoo is a name many Americans have never heard of, but the dating service is trying to grow its presence in the U.S. It's part of the reason why the brand acquired LuLu, a dating app originally for anonymous ranking men and gained popularity in U.S. colleges, and brought on its founder Alexandra Chong as president last month. Soon, she and Badoo will be opening an office in New York, adding to the locations in Moscow and London. "They're not known as the biggest," Chong told International Business Times while sitting on the rooftop of the Soho House earlier this week. "Tinder was the one that caught the millennials."
