Introducing Unity ArtEngine for AI-Assisted Artistry

#artificialintelligence

Preregister here to gain access to this session when it airs. Artomatix has joined the Unity family! In this session, Founder Eric Risser and Lead Artist Bertrand Remondin (formerly Activision and Ubisoft) will demonstrate powerful 3D material-creation workflows and quality-of-life enhancements made available through AI-assisted artistry. Come see what's possible and what's on the roadmap for Unity ArtEngine from Artomatix.

Unity Acquires Artomatix

#artificialintelligence

Unity announced it has acquired Artomatix. The team now owns ArtEngine, an artist-friendly, 3D content creation tool that is based on Creative AI for scan- and example-based material-creation workflows. The toolkit save time on minutiae material creation work: photoconversion to PBR materials, up-resing, deblur, seam removal, unwarping, color matching, and more. ArtEngine lets artists deliver realistic content for the next generation of consoles, helps VFX studios deliver better visuals for films, and more. "At Unity, we have talented developers working to solve problems using AI and machine learning. This talent, combined with the solution-oriented and production-validated approach of the ArtEngine team, means we can accelerate our ability to build an exceptional set of tools that help artists and creatives in many different ways," wrote the Unity team.

Irish software company Artomatix sold in deal valued at up to $60m

#artificialintelligence

Artomatix, an Irish software company that has developed artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which can automate the creation of 3D content, has been acquired in a deal believed to be worth up to $60 million (€54 million). The buyer's name has not been disclosed but industry sources described it as a well-known Silicon Valley-based company that does not currently have a base in the Republic. The transaction, which closed late last week, is valued at between $50 million and $60 million, leading to a significant return for Artomatix's backers, which include Sure Valley Ventures and Enterprise Ireland. Sure Ventures, a London-listed investment firm founded by Irish entrepreneur Barry Downes which backs early-stage tech companies through its Sure Valley Ventures fund, said it expected to make about €1.6 million from the sale. This represents a fivefold return on its initial investment in Artomatix 14 months ago.

Game on for Artomatix as its closes €2.1m seed round

#artificialintelligence

Dublin-based software firm Artomatix has closed a €2.1 million seed round with investors that include Enterprise Ireland. Artomatix, which employs 17 people, was founded in March 2014 by Dr Eric Risser, Neal O'Gorman and Bart Kiss. It has developed artificial intelligence (AI) technology to help automate 3D art creation for game design. The company's technology, known as Example Based Content Creation, relies on Dr Risser's expertise in machine learning, computer vision and graphics developed over 10 years of research. The technology gives 3D artists the ability to speed up their workflow thanks to algorithms that can generate thousands of images based on the initial design and parameters that an artist provides.

Dublin AI start-up Artomatix raises €2.1m in seed round

Artomatix founder Eric Risser's idea to use AI to create 3D worlds is not so crazy after all. Dublin artificial intelligence (AI) company Artomatix has raised €2.1m in a seed round. It is still the start of the journey for founder Dr Eric Risser as his company makes headway in enabling movie houses and games companies to create immersive 3D worlds. "No, we have no money for your weird AI arts stuff," Risser was told by a professor when he was a computer science student at Columbia University. He persevered, completed his PhD at Trinity College Dublin instead, and started a company.

Artomatix: AI-Enabled Startup Employing Example Based Art Creation For Gaming Companies

The purpose of a game is to deliver a captivating interactive experience to its users. If we delve games that have made a huge success out of themselves we'll find just one common trait- Design. People can call it'Fancy Technology', but we all know it's the fascination of technology that attracts users the most. Then comes the graphics part, where smoothness and asymmetry concoct an effective broth. With the entrance of technologies like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, the user experience has drastically shot up and so the competition.
