Apple just made Xcode better for vibe coding

Engadget

Xcode 26.3 brings more robust support for programming agents like Claude. Apple has just released Xcode 26.3, and it's a big step forward in terms of the company's support of coding agents. The new release expands on the AI features the company introduced with Xcode 26 at WWDC 2025 to give systems like Claude and ChatGPT more robust access to its in-house IDE. With the update, Apple says Claude and OpenAI's Codex can search documentation, explore file structures, update project settings, and verify their work visually by capturing Xcode Previews and iterating through builds and fixes. This is in contrast to earlier releases of Xcode 26 where those same agents were limited in what they could see of a developer's Xcode environment, restricting their utility.

Apple just pushed a key smart home feature into 2025

PCWorld

Looking forward to using Siri and HomeKit to control your robot vacuum? Your wait just got a little longer. An edit to a teeny-tiny footnote at the bottom of the Apple Home product page indicates that robot vacuum support for HomeKit has been pushed back into "early 2025," as noted by Macrumors. During its annual developer's conference in June, Apple promised that HomeKit, Siri, and the Apple Home app would gain the ability to work with robot vacuums this year, and many expected the feature to debut with the expected iOS 18.2 release later in December. It's not clear why Apple chose to put off the vacuum functionality, but assuming there are no more delays, smart home users won't have to wait too much longer for the update.

Apple Just Rolled Out A.I. Audiobooks. What Scares Human Narrators Is That Some of Them Are Pretty Good.

Slate

When Apple quietly launched a catalog of A.I.-narrated audiobooks early in January, it was surprising news, and it wasn't. Robot narrators are not new: Alexa provides text-to-speech for Kindle content and Google offers a suite of artificial voices of various genders and accents for those wishing to publish "auto-narrated" audiobooks. The difference is that Apple's four voices--"Madison" and "Jackson" suggested for fiction, "Helena" and "Mitchell" for nonfiction--sound much more natural than the digitally-generated voices available elsewhere, leading to fears that they could replace human narrators altogether. A few of Apple's voices are even noticeably similar to the voices of well-known members of the community of human audiobook narrators. "There's a little tension there," Edoardo Ballerini told me.

The company has not yet responded to Business Insider's request for comment. A few Inductiv Inc. employees recently updated their LinkedIn profiles to indicate that they've begun working at Apple in April or May. Apple touted the prowess of its new hardware and software by unveiling just two applications: Face ID, facial recognition to unlock the new iPhone X and to make purchases with Apple Pay, and and animated emoji's -- so-called animojis. The company also described how how facial recognition can work with augmented reality apps. But don't let these modest examples disappoint you. With Apple (and other device makers), the real magic often comes from the developer community.
