DeepSeek permanently reduces the price of its flagship V4 model by 75 percent
The lower prices could be aimed at undercutting the competition. DeepSeek is leaning hard into being the cost-effective choice for AI agents. According to its website, the Chinese startup is dropping the price for its latest flagship model, DeepSeek V4 Pro, to a fourth of its original price. This latest price update makes permanent the 75 percent discount promotion that was previously supposed to end on May 31, 2026. As seen on the website's pricing page, the DeepSeek V4 Pro prices now range from $0.003625 to $0.87 per one million tokens, compared to the previous range between $0.0145 to $3.48 for every million tokens.

People used AI to recreate the voices of pilots killed in a plane crash
US transportation regulator NTSB pulled its accident reports after the audio recreations were uploaded online. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has pulled its docket system offline after people used information uploaded to it to recreate the voices of pilots killed in a plane crash with AI. As CNN reports, the agency recently uploaded files filled with details about the November 4, 2025 crash involving UPS flight 2976. One of the plane's engines separated from the wing during takeoff from Louisville, Kentucky, killing three crew members and 12 people on the ground. While the NTSB uploads accident reports that the public can access, it is not allowed by federal law to release cockpit audio recordings due to the highly sensitive nature of verbal communications inside the cockpit.

Anthropic says Mythos has already found more than 10,000 vulnerabilities
The company has published an update about Project Glasswing, a month after its launch. Anthropic has published an initial report for Project Glasswing, the cybersecurity initiative it launched in April that aims to prevent AI cyberattacks with, well, AI. The initiative is powered by Claude Mythos Preview, the company's unreleased model, which Anthropic says has already helped its partners find more than ten thousand vulnerabilities overall just a month after Glasswing's launch. In addition, it says most of its partners have each found hundreds of critical-or high-severity vulnerabilities in their software using the model. The company said that its partners' rate of bug-finding has increased by more than a factor of ten.

A French woman and her partner will remain in custody after allegedly abandoning her two young boys on a roadside in the south of Portugal, a court has ruled. The boys were found on Tuesday evening crying beside a road near Alcacer do Sal, about 100km (60 miles) south of Lisbon. The woman and her partner, identified by authorities as Marine R and Marc B, were arrested in Fatima on Thursday. As they were being led into court on Saturday morning, the man shouted I love you in French and the boys' mother sang. A judge subsequently ordered the pair be placed in pre-trial detention, French and Portuguese media report.

Myst and Riven remakes, the return of Bubsy and other new indie games worth checking out
Plus, a puzzle platformer inspired by mental health challenges and turning failures into progress. Welcome to our latest roundup of what's going on in the indie game space. As always, we've got some new games (as well as remakes) for you to check out this weekend if you're so inclined, along with news and updates for some upcoming projects. Given how many games arrive every single week, we can't possibly cover all of them (not to mention all of the trailers and announcements for upcoming titles). However, I'd like to highlight a couple that previously slipped below my radar before we get into the incredibly busy Summer Game Fest period.

Race for French presidency sees ex-PM Philippe as early favourite to beat populists
A year to go until France chooses its next president, the big question is who can save the election from being a battle of the extremes. For now, and perhaps only for now, the answer is pretty clear. It is President Emmanuel Macron's former prime minister, Edouard Philippe. Latest opinion polls concur that the 55-year-old centre-right politician is the only figure capable of beating a hard-right candidate in round two of the vote next May, whether that is Marine Le Pen or her young deputy Jordan Bardella. In any other polled scenario, the other candidate would lose and France would have a populist-right head of state.
