Computer Vision Identifies Tumors in Liver Scans
Fijoy Vadakkumpadan is a father of twins, a programmer, and a computer vision expert. Fijoy credits ultrasound technology with helping to deliver his twins safely, and he hopes his work applying computer vision to medical imaging will have the same positive effect on others' lives in the future. Currently, his team is using computer vision object detection to detect tumors in CT scans of livers. The work is expected to save hundreds of hours for radiologists at a university hospital in Amsterdam, and be more accurate than the manual method used before.
