Selective Forgetting Can Help AI Learn Better

The trick: It must periodically forget what it knows. And while this new approach won't displace the huge models that undergird the biggest apps, it could reveal more about how these programs understand language. The new research marks "a significant advance in the field," said Jea Kwon, an AI engineer at the Institute for Basic Science in South Korea.
