Is Facebook leaving the purely AI-based news feed to add a "human touch"? • r/artificial
FB has recently made changes to its news feed (see various reports). I understand that instead of only relying on machine learning to find out what users want to see, they are now actively directing users towards seeing more posts from individuals they know instead of posts from publishers/organizations. Even if the ML-trained system would actually decide that e.g. a video posted by a company is something that generates more attention, FB decides that users should see other stuff instead in their news feed. So does this mean FB is not just relying on AI any more for its news feed? Does that mean AI is not good enough for this job and needs human intervention?
