Language Models in Machine Learning: A Brief Guide

In an industry generally obsessed with The Next Big Thing, the undeniably hot topic in technology right now is, no surprise, A.I. With OpenAI's release of ChatGPT late last year, big tech companies have been very publicly wringing their hands and channeling their vast resources into bolstering their A.I. research and development, putting it front and center of their business plans in hopes of staying relevant. Google has been developing their own A.I. for years but ramped up work on their LaMDA language model with search components, and released Bard last week to a resounding thud. Microsoft invested in OpenAI with plans to integrate the software into their cloud offerings. With so much corporate volleying to catch up with and surpass OpenAI's undeniable achievement, it seems important to keep up with these latest advancements.
