Google Assistant May Soon Make Its Way To Fitbit Wearables
Google's announcement of its acquisition of Fitbit was taken to be a good sign for Google's not-so-exciting Wear OS and the absence of any hardware from the Mountain View-based tech giant. Now, it seems like that Fitbit hardware will also soon grace Google's ubiquitous Assistant. According to new evidence uncovered by 9To5Google within the Fitbit Android application, suggests that Google Assistant will soon be making its way to Fitbit devices. The code implementation is very similar to that of Amazon Alexa on the Fitbit Versa 2. With Alexa on the Versa 2, users could make use of the microphone to talk to their watch to control smart home devices or ask for information like the weather. Interestingly, according to a report by Wired UK, Fitbit had earlier reached out to Google about making the Assistant available on the Fitbit Versa 2. But according to the report, Google was "less willing than Amazon to make this happen". At the moment it's not clear whether the Google Assistant will be made available on the Fitbit Versa 2 or an upcoming Fitbit device.
