MOOCs Might Be The Best Way To Learn Data Science, Says This Influencer

#artificialintelligence

For this edition of My Journey In Data Science column, Analytics India Magazine got in touch with a data scientist, influencer and blogger. Rahul Agrawal, Data Scientist at Walmart Labs, shared his exciting journey in data science, and also offered advice on best practices for aspirants to thrive in the ever-changing data science landscape. Rahul is a mechanical engineer from IIT Delhi, who started his job in a steel company in 2010, but quit the job since it was not interesting enough. Then he joined Fractal Analytics in 2011 as a business analyst. "Initially, I wrote a lot of SQL and made dashboards โ€“ most of the work revolved around reporting. And it was not a love-at-first-sight for me," says Rahul.

Artificial Intelligence's Impact On eLearning - eLearning Industry

#artificialintelligence

According to research by IDC, global spending on cognitive and AI systems will reach $57.6 billion by 2021! Artificial Intelligence has surrounded us with the most innovative tech inventions, and almost every critical sector or industry relies on AI to accomplish a specific task that is difficult for humans to achieve. In this run, AI is also driving the market for education, and helping to automate the process to increase profitability for educators and students as well. Today, users are expecting more customized content and unbeatable browsing experience. It has forced web development companies to think out-of-the-box rather than getting glued to old and conventional methods.

IIT Roorkee to conduct webinar talking about careers in AI, machine learning

#artificialintelligence

In an endeavour to upskill the youth and promote e-learning during the COVID-19 lockdown, IIT Roorkee had launched an Advanced Certification Course on Deep Learning at Cloudxlab.com. It is an advanced course on deep learning and would cover cutting edge techniques applicable to audio processing, image processing, video processing, self-driving cars etc. This came in the wake of the current economic crisis which underscores the significance of technical skills to tackle the global slowdown. Further to the launch IIT Roorkee and CloudxLab will conduct a webinar on careers in AI and machine learning. The webinar will include faculty members from IIT Roorkee as well as members of the industry.

Transfer Learning and Online Learning for Traffic Forecasting under Different Data Availability Conditions: Alternatives and Pitfalls

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

This work aims at unveiling the potential of Transfer Learning (TL) for developing a traffic flow forecasting model in scenarios of absent data. Knowledge transfer from high-quality predictive models becomes feasible under the TL paradigm, enabling the generation of new proper models with few data. In order to explore this capability, we identify three different levels of data absent scenarios, where TL techniques are applied among Deep Learning (DL) methods for traffic forecasting. Then, traditional batch learning is compared against TL based models using real traffic flow data, collected by deployed loops managed by the City Council of Madrid (Spain). In addition, we apply Online Learning (OL) techniques, where model receives an update after each prediction, in order to adapt to traffic flow trend changes and incrementally learn from new incoming traffic data. The obtained experimental results shed light on the advantages of transfer and online learning for traffic flow forecasting, and draw practical insights on their interplay with the amount of available training data at the location of interest.

5 Python Online Courses for Beginners

If you are thinking to learn a new programming language then also Python is a good choice, particularly if you are looking to move towards a lucrative career path of Data Science and Machine learning which has lots of opportunities. In this article, I am going to share some of the best online courses to learn Python in 2020... Python is an object-oriented, high-level programming language with integrated dynamic semantics primarily for web and app development. It is extremely attractive in the field of Rapid Application Development because it offers dynamic typing and dynamic binding options. Python is relatively simple, so it's easy to learn since it requires a unique syntax that focuses on readability. Developers can read and translate Python code much easier than other languages.

Python most popular programming language In India

#artificialintelligence

New Delhi, Jan 11 (IANS) When it comes to programming languages in India, Python is most popular among the students for its role in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, data science, Machine Learning (ML) and data analytics, US-based online education company Coursera has said. Python dominated the top 10 list with courses like "Programming for Everybody", "Python Data Structures", "Python for Data Science and AI" and more. Python is also easy to get started with, offers a lot of flexibility and is versatile. "Its open source nature makes it easy to learn. A large number libraries for tasks like web development, text processing, calculations add to its appeal," the repor said.

A Large-Scale, Open-Domain, Mixed-Interface Dialogue-Based ITS for STEM

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

We present Korbit, a large-scale, open-domain, mixed-interface, dialogue-based intelligent tutoring system (ITS). Korbit uses machine learning, natural language processing and reinforcement learning to provide interactive, personalized learning online. Korbit has been designed to easily scale to thousands of subjects, by automating, standardizing and simplifying the content creation process. Unlike other ITS, a teacher can develop new learning modules for Korbit in a matter of hours. To facilitate learning across a widerange of STEM subjects, Korbit uses a mixed-interface, which includes videos, interactive dialogue-based exercises, question-answering, conceptual diagrams, mathematical exercises and gamification elements. Korbit has been built to scale to millions of students, by utilizing a state-of-the-art cloud-based micro-service architecture. Korbit launched its first course in 2019 on machine learning, and since then over 7,000 students have enrolled. Although Korbit was designed to be open-domain and highly scalable, A/B testing experiments with real-world students demonstrate that both student learning outcomes and student motivation are substantially improved compared to typical online courses.

Instructor very knowledgeable about the material, and explains it clearly and to the point. Also, gives very good practical examples. As usual, Mike provides a well made course to teach you about SciKit. The lessons are very short so you are able to absorb the information, and the follow up labs help anchor what you learned. I will be going over this course again because the information is a bit advanced, but I already got a great understanding and feel for SciKit after my first go through of the course.
