17 Everyday Things You Didn't Know Could Be Hacked
Even news of millions of so-called smart speakers being hacked right before 2017's holiday season didn't seem to slow down sales of Amazon's Echo and Google Home. But if you have either, you should definitely take precautions against hackers. If these speakers are hacked, they could divulge sensitive information such as when you'll be out of town or any upcoming doctor's appointments, along with your credit card and bank account info, shares NBC.com. Equally alarming, if it's connected to your home security system, a hacker could simply turn it off and walk right through your front door. To keep yourself and your home safe, limit how much info you connect through these types of speakers and unplug it when you go on vacation. Don't worry--there's no risk with these 15 hilarious things you can ask Alexa to do.
Toward Human-Level Artificial Intelligence
In this paper, we present our research on programming human-level artificial intelligence (HLAI), including 1) a definition of HLAI, 2) an environment to develop and test HLAI, and 3) a cognitive architecture for HLAI. The term AI is used in a broad meaning, and HLAI is not clearly defined. I claim that the essence of Human-Level Intelligence to be the capability to learn from others' experiences via language. The key is that the event described by language has the same effect as if the agent experiences it firsthand for the update of the behavior policy. To develop and test models with such a capability, we are developing a simulated environment called SEDRo. There is a 3D Home, and a mother character takes care of the baby (the learning agent) and teaches languages. The environment provides comparable experiences to that of a human baby from birth to one year. Finally, I propose a cognitive architecture of HLAI called Modulated Heterarchical Prediction Memory (mHPM). In mHPM, there are three components: a universal module that learns to predict the next vector given the sequence of vector signals, a heterarchical network of those modules, and a reward-based modulation of learning.
Apple announces new protections for child safety: iMessage features, iCloud Photo scanning, more
Apple is today announcing a trio of new efforts it's undertaking to bring new protection for children to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This includes new communications safety features in Messages, enhanced detection of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) content in iCloud, and updated knowledge information for Siri and Search. One thing Apple is emphasizing is that its new program is ambitious, but that "protecting children is an important responsibility." With that in mind, Apple says that its efforts will "evolve and expand over time." The first announcement today is a new communication safety feature in the Messages app.
Machine Learning System Design
As ML applications are maturing over time and becoming an indispensable component of industries for making faster and accurate decisions for critical and high-value transactions. In all the above scenarios, the expected ML response is accurate, fast, and reliable. Scalability, maintainability, and adaptability also become critical as we move towards making ML one of the main components of enterprise-level applications. Hence, designing of end to end system keeping requirements of ML becomes important. The process of defining an interface, algorithm, data infrastructure, and hardware for ML Learning system to meet specific requirements of reliability, scalability, maintainability, and adaptability.
How Artificial Intelligence Can Improve the Classroom Experience
Levi Belnap wants to make this clear from the beginning--artificial intelligence will never replace human teachers, at least not in our lifetime. What he and his colleagues at Merlyn Mind believe is that AI can enhance teachers' work. On this episode of EdTech Today, Levi introduces us to his nascent company's offering and provides some insights on how they believe the classroom experience can be better for all involved. The company launched out of stealth mode last month to unveil the first digital assistant built specifically for education that empowers teachers to more naturally use the technology in their classrooms and simplify their work. The company also announces it has closed $29 million in funding to date, led by Learn Capital.
Artificial Intelligence in India: 5 Reasons to Make AI More Accessible
In the past few years, digital initiatives like making the internet more accessible, boosting IoT, cybersecurity, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in India have been the goals of the government. You must have heard that AI is the future and it particularly saves the world as it is a technology that will dramatically alter human life in very real ways. AI helps people to rethink how they integrate information, analyze data, and use the resulting insights to improve decision-making. With AI significantly changing the tech scenario across the globe, maybe conveying it successfully, and ensuring that its advantages stream down to the most minimal level, turns out to be particularly essential. According to reports, the number of smartphone users in India will reach over 760 million in the year 2021.
DySR: A Dynamic Representation Learning and Aligning based Model for Service Bundle Recommendation
Liu, Mingyi, Tu, Zhiying, Xu, Xiaofei, Wang, Zhongjie
An increasing number and diversity of services are available, which result in significant challenges to effective reuse service during requirement satisfaction. There have been many service bundle recommendation studies and achieved remarkable results. However, there is still plenty of room for improvement in the performance of these methods. The fundamental problem with these studies is that they ignore the evolution of services over time and the representation gap between services and requirements. In this paper, we propose a dynamic representation learning and aligning based model called DySR to tackle these issues. DySR eliminates the representation gap between services and requirements by learning a transformation function and obtains service representations in an evolving social environment through dynamic graph representation learning. Extensive experiments conducted on a real-world dataset from ProgrammableWeb show that DySR outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in commonly used evaluation metrics, improving $F1@5$ from $36.1\%$ to $69.3\%$.
8 Helpful Everyday Examples of Artificial Intelligence
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a technology that feels like it came out of a comic book. What we once considered to be the future, is here now. AI as we know it today has footprints that date back to the classic philosophers, who attempted to explain human thinking as a symbolic system. However, the term AI was formally coined in the year 1956, at a conference at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. In a report by PWC, it is stated that AI-enabled activities could raise the global GDP to 14percent by the end of 2030, which sums up to $15.7 Trillion. This is evidence of the potential that AI software development has today and in the future to come.
3 Disney World employees and registered nurse among group arrested in child sex sting: sheriff
Fox News Flash top headlines are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com. An undercover child sex sting in Florida led to the arrests of over a dozen predators, including three Disney World employees and a registered nurse, investigators said Tuesday. In total, 17 people were taken into custody in the operation dubbed "Operation Child Protector" and face a total of 49 felony and two misdemeanor charges, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced during a press conference. Undercover detectives posed as children between the ages of 13 and 14 on social media platforms, mobile apps and online dating sites to investigate child predators from July 27 through Aug. 1.
