When you purchase through links in our articles, we may earn a small commission. From smart locks powered by light waves to a robot lawn mower that can pick fruit, these are the coolest new smart products we saw in Las Vegas this year. The latest edition of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is already drawing to a close, and once again, we've seen some truly impressive smart home and home security innovations--and as usual, some are more likely to ship than others. We're not counting on the robot lawn mower that picks fruit and lobs tennis balls to canines to actually land in stores, but it certainly counts as one of the biggest attention-getters in Vegas this week. We also saw some far more practical smart products that wowed us, from the smart lock that's powered by light waves to the new go-almost-anywhere Ring sensors that connect to Amazon's growing patchwork of Sidewalk neighborhood networks.
I Made My Dating Profile Weird on Purpose. It's Surprisingly Effective.
When everyone looks too perfect to trust, weirdness becomes the most convincing sign you're real. If my dating app profile were made with A.I., my nose would be smaller, my teeth whiter. My eyes would be equally hooded, or not hooded at all, and my skin smoother. Men wouldn't make a game out of guessing whether I'm neurodivergent or Jewish. My gaze would be coquettish, my aura obvious, my entire essence ratcheted down a notch or several.
Swipe right for AI romance
A screenshot of Loverse app shows an AI-generated woman, characterized as a 25-year-old hair and makeup artist Miyu, registered as a female companion. When artificial intelligence first started receiving attention around the end of 2022, Goki Kusunoki was tinkering around to see what kind of services he could create with the technology. One thing clicked for him after he created an image of an attractive woman with AI -- an AI companion -- and wondered what it would be like to engage in a conversation with her. "As I kept talking with her, I found that the conversations were more enjoyable than I had expected and as the exchanges continued, my feelings gradually grew -- at some point I caught myself thinking, 'I might actually like her,'" he recounted. Anker's CES smart home lineup includes a 1,600 Eufy robovac
It seems like only a few years ago that Anker made nothing more than batteries and chargers . But 15 years into its history, the company's CES portfolio continues to illustrate how much it's expanded. Among other announcements, the company has a new robot vacuum, video doorbell, outdoor light and smart lock. The company hopes its Eufy Clean Robot Vacuum Omni S2 will be your next robovac. Anker claims the vac works on shag carpets up to about 2 inches (5 cm) in pile height.
Amazon is rolling out Alexa for the web so you can use its assistant without a dedicated device
Amazon announced at CES 2026 that Alexa+ for web will come to Early Access customers first. You no longer need an Amazon device to summon Alexa since the AI assistant will be available on the Alexa.com Amazon will roll out the web client to its Alexa+ Early Access customers first, still featuring the company's new and improved AI assistant that was announced in February. The web model won't be much different from the existing Alexa+ that's already available on Echo devices, Fire TV and Fire tablets. However, instead of buying into the Amazon ecosystem, Early Access customers can use any web browser to get Alexa+'s help with everything from basic questions to complex tasks, like controlling your smart home devices, customizing a recipe to account for dietary restrictions or making restaurant reservations if you don't feel like cooking. The Alexa+ web version will also feature a navigation sidebar that will be home to your most-used Alexa features.
The Subtle Voicebuds use AI to transcribe your words below a whisper, or in very loud spaces (like the CES show floor)
They're earbuds built for the voice command age. There's a good chance you spend more time talking to your phone's virtual assistant, or dictating text with your voice, instead of actually calling people these days. But, as convenient as voice input can be, you don't want to be the obnoxious person shouting commands to Siri or ChatGPT in a quiet library. And you probably won't have much luck dictating an email in a room with toddlers screaming and Peppa Pig blaring on the TV. At CES 2026, the startup Subtle is unveiling its solution to those issues: Voicebuds.
