Why Scheduling is More Social than You Think About MeetVibe
Lunch dates, business meetings, and social gatherings sound like random events, but they all share two things in common: personal interactions and scheduling. Social dynamics include the behaviors, relationships and interactions of individuals and groups. We know the reason companies invest so much in automated systems is in an effort to save time and money. MeetVibe integrates the latest technology to reduce the time required for the act of scheduling so that people can make the most of their time with the ones who are important to them.
Why Scheduling is More Social than You Think About MeetVibe
Lunch dates, business meetings, and social gatherings sound like random events, but they all share two things in common: personal interactions and scheduling. Some exchanges are spontaneous while at work or on the go. Other meetings are scheduled in advance by saving the date and confirming an appointment. Social dynamics include the behaviors, relationships and interactions of individuals and groups. Relationships play a role in every interaction, and individuals are influenced by one another's behavior.
Dating site murderer Miles Donnelly jailed for life
A man who murdered a single mother he met on a dating website has been jailed for life. Miles Donnelly admitted strangling Usha Patel, 44, at the home she shared with her five-year-old son in Cricklewood, north-west London in October 2015. The 35-year-old, from Paddington, then fled to a west London house where he attacked another woman when she refused his advances. At the Old Bailey he was told he would serve a minimum of 23 years. The court heard he and Ms Patel had met on the dating site seven months before she invited him back to her home on 7 October.
Tinder launches controversial 'group sex' feature: Social tool will let you take several people on a date
Going on a date with someone you have met online can be a daunting experience. While taking a friend with you might seem strange, this is exactly the aim of Tinder's latest feature. Some have pointed out these activities may not be as innocent as they seem, describing it as a'group sex' feature. But Tinder Social says the tool is not designed for this, and simply enables users to create groups, meet new people and plan activities together. After downloading the latest update, Tinder users can now choose to'unlock' Tinder Social to gain access to the feature.
Tinder Social is a new feature for finding friends to hang with
Tinder Social came about after a test in Australia that proved a glut of the app's users have been looking for a feature to aid in planning out their night, their hangouts, and ways to meet new people for concerts and other friendly excursions aside from romantic encounters. When using the feature, Tinder users can "unlock" Tinder Social to create a group of 1-3 friends with a sole focus, like attending a movie or hitting up a bar. The group access can be turned on or off at any time. When users swipe right on a group they like, the groups will combine and offer up a group chat for planning the event. The feature is available in the US, UK and select other areas around the world.
What I learned from using Amazon Alexa for a month
When Amazon Echo with Alexa service came out in November 2014 I was skeptical. A speaker with voice recognition seemed like an unnecessary oddity. When a friend of mine purchased one in 2015, I had a chance to play with it but was unimpressed still. Alexa's SDK has been open to third party developers for a year now. As a software engineer it is important for me to keep up with emerging technologies and learn about them.
Inside story of how Ghostbot handles texting creepers
Last month, in collaboration with the folks behind the fantastic Burner app, my company Voxable launched our latest chatbot project, Ghostbot for Burner. Ghostbot runs on top of Burner's "open" phone numbers as an agent inside your text message inbox, allowing you to "ghost" away from fleeting relationships by responding to unwanted or creepy texters on your behalf. Since the launch, Ghostbot has been covered in over one hundred media outlets. Chris Messina was also kind enough to post it to Product Hunt, calling it "the first bot-as-personal-firewall" he had seen. The opportunity to break new ground in the coming era of bot-mediated communication was what initially both excited and terrified us about the project.
Powering the golden age of audio
Audio, the spoken word, is humanity's primary means of sentient communication: the sounds a fetus hears in utero; a lover's whisper; a marriage proposal… all leave deep imprints on our hearts and minds. We use sound to accentuate and transmit our emotions; our aural ability is a primary sense that is deeply connected to emotion. In fact, much research indicates that hearing is the most important of the five senses. We detect harmful and dangerous sounds with our ears -- if a fire alarm rings in the middle of the night, we depend on our hearing to alert us of impending danger. While historically sight has been the most valued sense, audio has been catching up.
Macy's has launched an in-store AI assistant powered by IBM's Watson
The firm used various network names, some essentially masquerading as other service providers, including "Google Starbucks", "Xfinitywifi", "Attwifi", "I vote Trump! free Internet," and "I vote Hillary! free Internet." The company didn't retain individual data, emphasizes Gagan Singh, Avast's president of mobile. But, he says, it was able to observe device names, such as "Gagan's iPhone," and names of visited domains on the network--enough to detect users playing Pokémon Go and accessing Tinder. To avoid leaking data to other network operators who might be more hostile, Singh recommends that traveling Wi-Fi users connect through a virtual private network, whether Avast's or another provider's. "Obviously we prefer ours, but a number of different reputable companies have VPN products out there," he says.
