How Siri works on a Mac: Sierra OS review
NEW YORK--Only a few years ago, the launch of a new computer operating system set off impassioned clashes between devotees of the Mac and supporters of Windows. Tuesday's arrival of macOS Sierra seems like an after-thought by comparison, coming with nowhere near the media attention that's paid to an iPhone or even iOS release. The marquee feature is Siri's debut on the Mac, and while this is mainly a welcome development, the fact is we all got to know Apple's loquacious personal assistant on the phone first. Indeed, with Sierra comes further evidence that we're fully entrenched in a post-PC world, where the computers in our pockets have trumped those on our desks. Microsoft with Windows 10 has for the most part designed a single operating system that is meant to work across PCs, phones, tablets, even Xboxes.
AI in Insurance: 5 Use Cases
No longer simply the subject of science-fiction movies, artificial intelligence is making its way into the insurance enterprise. According to Accenture, four in five insurers are planning to or have deployed some sort of artificial intelligence technology in their enterprises. Allstate Business Insurance deployed ABie -- the Allstate Business Insurance Expert -- virtual assistant to help walk agents through the quoting process for complex products. The context-aware technology understands agents inputs and is able to direct them through the process without using the call center. AIG has partnered with Human Condition Safety to deploy devices that "couples wearable technology with artificial intelligence (AI) and building information modeling."
Siri on the Mac's new Sierra OS: so-so

The online dating service on Tuesday announced a partnership with music streaming site Spotify that will enable a brand new feature for those looking for a romantic match. Taking Tinder's swiping feature a step further, the Anthem will refer users who share similar musical interests. Tinder would pull "liked" brands and musical artists from Facebook pages, akin to the site's "common" or "shared interests" recommendations. In addition, Tinder is launching Tinder Music, which gives users set music themes that help them create their favorite playlists.
Welcome to the World of Intelligent Marketing and Analytics with Salesforce Einstein
We're experiencing artificial intelligence every day of our lives, even if we don't know it or just take it for granted. Whether it's Spotify using machine learning to give us a better music playlist, or Apple using natural language processing to make Siri our digital assistant, AI is truly everywhere. As the leader of Salesforce's Marketing and Analytics Clouds, I want to outline what exactly intelligence means for marketing and analytics professionals. Starting from the top, we all know and can understand that customers expect faster, smarter, more personalized engagement. But delivering on these expectations is challenging.
Apple's macOS Sierra is now available for download
If you skipped the beta releases, today's the day you can put Siri to work on a Mac. Apple's latest desktop operating system, macOS Sierra, is now available for download. While the new version debuted back at WWDC and followed with a public beta, this is the first time the finished product will be available to the masses via the App Store on a Mac. In addition to the aforementioned virtual assistant hitting the desktop, the free update includes features like a universal clipboard, revamped Messages, a storage optimization tool, Apple Pay on the web and more tabs... lots of tabs. For a full rundown of the new features and our detailed impressions, consult out full review right here.
macOS Sierra review: Mac users get a modest update this year
This is almost like part two of my macOS Sierra review. I had a chance to test Apple's newest desktop operating system at the beginning of the summer, just before it was released in a public beta. The software hasn't changed much since, but a few of the headline features were missing from that earlier build; Apple said they wouldn't be available until the final version shipped in the fall. As it happens, Sierra arrives today as a free upgrade, so I'm picking up right where I left off. What follows is my full review of Sierra, though if you read my earlier preview, or have been using the software yourself, you won't find many big surprises here.
How artificial intelligence drives more effective advertising campaigns
Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept, it's a staple of today. From virtual personal assistants like Siri and Cortana, to image scanners built to identify diseases, to Google's or Tesla's self-driving cars, AI is becoming a part of everyday technology. According to a MarketsandMarkets report, the artificial intelligence industry is estimated to reach USD 5.05bn by 2020, growing at an annual growth rate (CAGR) of 53.65% between 2015 and 2020. One reason for this significant growth is the increased use of machine learning technology – a subcategory of AI where computers learn from data themselves in the advertising and media industry. Machine Learning has a huge impact on the advertising ecosystem already.
The Law Firm of ROSS, HAL, and GladOS
In April several news sources reported that the law firm of Baker Hostetler had hired a legal robot called ROSS. This artificial intelligence system, built on IBM's famous Watson system, automates legal tasks like research and the preparation of legal memorandums in the narrow domain of bankruptcy law. Since then, other big law firms have joined the rush. ROSS Intelligence markets its product as a kind of artificial intelligent assistant: ask it questions in plain language, and legal research is presented. It sounds a lot like Siri, except instead of asking for baseball scores one can ask for relevant case law.
