Virtual assistants spend much of their time fending off sexual harassment
Bots are already scheduling meetings, ordering meals, and analyzing bank accounts. That means they must now suffer the indignities unethical bosses inflict on their human assistants, especially sexual harassment. As bots do more of our bidding, their algorithms are spending more time parrying flirtations, dodging personal questions, and dealing with darker forms of sexual harassment. "Lots of use cases come from that motivation," says Ilya Eckstein, CEO of Robin Labs whose bot platform helps truckers, cabbies, and other drivers find the best route and handle logistics. "People want to flirt, they want to dream about a subservient girlfriend, or even a sexual slave. It may just be more for laughs, or something deeper underneath the surface."
The PR of AI: How Machine Learning Is Nothing to Be Feared
Much of our current understanding about Artificial Intelligence is informed by what we see in popular culture. Due to ignorance and popular cultural portrayals of A.I. and machine learning, many people fear machines that are capable of computing complex tasks. There exists the belief that artificial intelligence could operate in a way that is counter to humanity's best interests, conjuring images of The Terminator and other similar films. As we explore the boundaries of the technology with consumer-facing technology like self-driving cars, and machine-learning algorithms such as recommendation engines, the general public is learning more and more about how these things work. But will we get to a point where people accept AI? A.I. refers to software that models its programming on human behaviour, mimicking rational and logical decision making processes.

Cortana For Android Gets Better Notification Sound For Reminders, Faster Home Page Loading Times In New Update 1.9.10
The new update version 1.9.10 may not come with the same level of deep integration as the app for the Windows Phone, but it is helpful in making the user experience of the Android app more seamless. According to PhoneArena, update 1.9.10 comes with much needed improvements for Cortana's Android app. First and foremost, it comes with a better notification sound for reminders. In addition, reminders can now be triggered at a more accurate and timely manner -- something that Android 6.0 Marshmallow-running devices had trouble doing before. As stated in the official changelog of the Cortana for Android update, users should now notice the speedier and better loading times of the home page.
Google: Our Assistant Will Trigger the Next Era of AI
The company's scientists think its new AI-based factotum will be the biggest thing since search. It is the day after Google's big hardware event in San Francisco, when the company formally unveiled a new phone (a jab to the iPhone) and a voice-activated speaker (a gut punch to Amazon's Echo). Word of mouth is already tracking positive; a countdown to ecstasy, in the form of upcoming rhapsodic reviews of the Pixel phone, has already begin. But in a conference room on the company's sprawling Mountain View campus, Fernando Pereira, who leads Google's projects in natural language understanding, is less excited about his company's shiny new devices than he is about what will happen when people use them. "Let me tell you a little bit about The Transition," he says.
How Penn Inspired Us To Build An AI Startup - Entrepreneurship
We are building an AI assistant that helps you stay on top of all your conversations and reconnect with the right people at the right time. As you interact across different communication channels (Facebook, Slack, Texting, Email), Fireflies.ai My experiences at Penn created a unique opportunity for me to pursue this idea, and the lessons I learned there are imbued into the culture of our startup and our core product. During my time here, I was fortunate enough to meet very talented and hardworking peers from diverse backgrounds. Learning from others and sharing unique experiences is what makes Penn special.
Apple CEO Tim Cook says you won't have to give up your privacy to have a great AI assistant
Apple CEO Tim Cook doesn't think the future of artificial intelligence will infringe on users' privacy, the way it does now. Responding to a question about Apple's virtual assistant Siri on a call to discuss the company's latest quarterly earnings, Cook said: "In terms of the balance of privacy and AI, this is a long conversation, but at a high level, this is a false tradeoff. People would like you to believe you have to give up privacy to have AI do something for you, but we don't buy that. It might take more work, it might take more thinking, but I don't think we should throw our privacy away. You shouldn't have to make a choice."
Democratizing AI: Doubling Down on Clarifai
Machine learning, AI, Conv Nets, Deep Learning, and Neural Nets โฆ all rapidly maturing Artificial Intelligence technologies that have simultaneously become household jargon in the Valley. Tesla's self driving car, Amazon Alexa, Google Search, Facebook tag recommendations, Microsoft Cortana, and Apple Siri โฆ all novel products leveraging the above mentioned AI technologies, developed by large tech mainstays, and increasingly popular nation wide. Technocrati cocktail banter is developed and largely kept in-house by large technology incumbents to develop new products and disrupt adjacent industries. That said, historically a rapid rise and maturation of a new technology germinates within the the confines of a select few labs, institutions, social classes, and corporations before hitting a critical juncture when, via technological or economic means, it rapidly democratizes and is made available to everyone. Clarifai's growing product suite around developer centric AI tools are leading exactly that charge: democratizing the Artificial Intelligence revolution.
How to Watch the Microsoft Windows Event
The leaves are turning, and you've switched to pumpkin spice lattes. The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians are in the World Series, which surely means humanity's days are numbered. All of which is to say: Winter is coming, but the anticipation of new gear warms the heart. Microsoft deploys its best and brightest to announce new things on Wednesday! If the rumors are correct, we'll see an all-in-one touchscreen machine called the Surface PC, which could be an important tool for creating 3-D HoloLens applications. We also expect an update to Windows 10, and perhaps a Cortana-based competitor to in-home voice assistants like Amazon Echo and Google Home.
