Apple makes it easier to download your personal data
A few months ago, if you wanted to find out what kind of personal information Apple had collected on you, you needed to navigate to Apple's privacy website, locate a hard-to-find tab to request the info and await its arrival. That changes today, with the introduction of a new privacy portal that will offer one click access to get the information, delete it, pause an Apple.com You'll still have to wait a few days to retrieve the information, from the updated http://www.apple.com/privacy Apple's updated privacy website (Photo: Apple) Apple updates its privacy website every fall, after the introduction of new phones and software upgrades to the mobile and computer operating systems, iOS12 and MacOS, which this year is called Mojave. Privacy has become a big buzzword for tech consumers, in the wake of massive vulnerabilities of Facebook and Google that exposed how the companies were targeting us with ads that tracked our every move.
12 ubiquitous artificial intelligence powered apps that are changing lives Packt Hub
Artificial Intelligence is making it easier for people to do things every day. You can schedule your day, search for photos of loved ones, type emails on the go, or get things done with the virtual assistant. AI also provides innovative ways of tackling existing problems, from healthcare to advancing scientific discovery. According to Gartner's Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2018, the next few years will see every app, application, and service incorporating AI at some level. With major companies like Google, Amazon, IBM investing in AI and incorporating AI in their products, this statement, instead of a prediction is becoming a fact.
Dating app for Trump supporters leaves users' data open to hackers on first day in business
A dating app set up to help supporters of President Donald Trump find each other in America's confusing dating landscape hit a snag on its first day in operation when a computer security specialist was able to download every piece of data on its servers. That included the first 1,600 users' photos and personal messages between people chatting online. Instead of disrupting the world of'DonaldDaters,' however, French security researcher Baptiste Robert blew the whistle publicly on Monday just hours after the product went live. 'You should not use this app,' he tweeted in a message to Trump fans. 'In 5 minutes, I managed to get: - the list of all the people registered - name - Photo - personal messages - token to steal their session.'
A Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendation System Based on Big Data Mining and Cloud Computing

It is crucial to provide compatible treatment schemes for a disease according to various symptoms at different stages. However, most classification methods might be ineffective in accurately classifying a disease that holds the characteristics of multiple treatment stages, various symptoms, and multi-pathogenesis. Moreover, there are limited exchanges and cooperative actions in disease diagnoses and treatments between different departments and hospitals. Thus, when new diseases occur with atypical symptoms, inexperienced doctors might have difficulty in identifying them promptly and accurately. Therefore, to maximize the utilization of the advanced medical technology of developed hospitals and the rich medical knowledge of experienced doctors, a Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendation System (DDTRS) is proposed in this paper. First, to effectively identify disease symptoms more accurately, a Density-Peaked Clustering Analysis (DPCA) algorithm is introduced for disease-symptom clustering. In addition, association analyses on Disease-Diagnosis (D-D) rules and Disease-Treatment (D-T) rules are conducted by the Apriori algorithm separately. The appropriate diagnosis and treatment schemes are recommended for patients and inexperienced doctors, even if they are in a limited therapeutic environment. Moreover, to reach the goals of high performance and low latency response, we implement a parallel solution for DDTRS using the Apache Spark cloud platform. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed DDTRS realizes disease-symptom clustering effectively and derives disease treatment recommendations intelligently and accurately.
Enacomm Deploys AI Chatbot Solution with Alabaman Bank - Mobile ID World
Customers of Alabama's Bank Independent can now access their banking services via an AI-driven virtual assistant based on Amazon's Alexa platform. That includes checking their account balances, performing transactions, and receiving information about loans, bank hours, and more; and the system can even perform biometric authentication using voice recognition. The technology arrives via Enacomm's VPA, or "Virtual Personal Assistant" solution. It's a little late in arriving; plans for the deployment were first announced a year ago, and at the time Enacomm said it expected to complete it "in early 2018". But better late than never: A statement announcing the implementation suggested that customers appreciate the new technology, with Bank Independent VP Kelly Burdette noting that after its launch the company heard from an 89-year-old customer with macular degeneration who said the Alexa chatbot "makes his banking and his life easier." News of the deployment arrives after a string of announcements from Enacomm concerning new distribution partners this year.
'Donald Daters' the New Dating App for Trump Supporters Leaked Its Users' Data on Launch Day
Donald Daters, a new dating app for Trump supporters, has leaked users' personal information on the day of its launch. The app, which markets itself as an "American-based singles community connecting lovers, friends, and Trump supporters alike," had more than 1,600 users when it launched on Monday, according to security researcher Elliot Alderson, who was reportedly able to download the entire user database. Alderson shared his findings in a tweet, stating that the data he managed to gain access to included users' names, profile pictures, device types, private messages and access tokens that can be used to log into their accounts. You should not use this app. The Donald Daters app was founded by Emily Moreno--a former aide to Sen. Marco Rubio--who confirmed the leak on Tuesday.
Microsoft's Cortana mobile beta adds conversational voice control
Microsoft just made Cortana considerably more useful on smartphones -- provided you're an early adopter. It has announced a version 3.0 beta for Android and iOS that delivers a major interface overhaul with some valuable features. Gone is the blue-laden (and slightly dated) look you see above. Instead, you'll see a more modern-looking (if slightly plain) design with a prominent voice command button. More importantly, the interface now enables "conversational experiences" (that is, a more back-and-forth chat) with Cortana as well as a dedicated place to set up your Cortana-capable devices.
Pinterest rolls out product recommendations for easier shopping
Over the last few years, Pinterest has become not just a place to pin your favorite clothing or home decor ideas, but also where you would go to shop. Buyable pins would let you purchase items directly from Pinterest, while recommendation tools like Shop the Look and Lens relied on machine learning and visual search to figure out what else you'd be interested in. Today, Pinterest is ready to up the ante with a brand new Product Pin system that'll make the site even more of a shopping destination than before. The most obvious difference is that Pinterest will now have a new shopping recommendations area in the Style and Home Decor categories. The recommendations are based on your personal tastes as well as the latest trends, and each of the pins are now called Product Pins.
Google Home Hub hands-on: Assistant gets a screen
It seems to be smart display season: Amazon just updated the Echo Show, Facebook showed off its new Portal system yesterday, and now Google has just announced that it's getting in on the game with the Google Assistant-powered Home Hub. I just spent some time with the Home Hub, and it's much smaller than you would expect from the 7-inch display size. It looks like nothing more than a tiny floating tablet on a cloth-covered stand. That display has something called Ambient EQ, which automatically adjusts to the light in the room to look more natural. In a quick demo under color-changing Hue lights, it worked well, quickly changing to look like a print photo under the same conditions. Unlike Amazon and Facebook, Google isn't envisioning the Home Hub as a video chat device.
People With Speech Disabilities Are Being Left Out of the Voice-Assistant Revolution
When Whitney Bailey bought an Amazon Echo, she wanted to use the hands-free calling feature in case she fell and couldn't reach her phone. She hoped that it would offer her family some peace of mind and help make life a little easier. In some ways, she says, it does. But because she has cerebral palsy, her voice is strained when she talks, and she struggles to get Alexa to understand her. To make matters worse, having to repeat commands strains her voice even more.
