EqualAI Challenges Companies and Leaders to Pledge to Reduce Bias
EqualAI, a nonprofit organization and leading voice focused on reducing unconscious bias in the development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), challenged corporations and business leaders around the globe to take The Pledge to Reduce Bias in AI. There are immediate actions that organizations can take to identify and reduce bias within their existing systems. EqualAI has been seeking out ways that companies can go beyond mere statements in support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and commit to action. The Pledge identifies actions within a company's control that they can commit to changing quickly to create a tangible impact in our society. Organizations taking The Pledge to Reduce Bias in AI are forward-thinking leaders.

Characterizing an Analogical Concept Memory for Architectures Implementing the Common Model of Cognition
Mohan, Shiwali, Klenk, Matt, Shreve, Matthew, Evans, Kent, Ang, Aaron, Maxwell, John
Architectures that implement the Common Model of Cognition - Soar, ACT-R, and Sigma - have a prominent place in research on cognitive modeling as well as on designing complex intelligent agents. In this paper, we explore how computational models of analogical processing can be brought into these architectures to enable concept acquisition from examples obtained interactively. We propose a new analogical concept memory for Soar that augments its current system of declarative long-term memories. We frame the problem of concept learning as embedded within the larger context of interactive task learning (ITL) and embodied language processing (ELP). We demonstrate that the analogical learning methods implemented in the proposed memory can quickly learn a diverse types of novel concepts that are useful not only in recognition of a concept in the environment but also in action selection. Our approach has been instantiated in an implemented cognitive system \textsc{Aileen} and evaluated on a simulated robotic domain.
VoiceBase and ThoughtSpot Partner to Offer the Enterprise Searchable
VoiceBase, the leading AI-Powered Voice Analytics company, announced a strategic partnership with ThoughtSpot, the leading Search & AI-Driven Analytics platform, to revolutionize how enterprises gain faster insights from their voice data through innovative search capabilities. Voice Analytics has been empowering frontline workers in contact centers and organizations for years, but 86% of businesses report that they need better technology-enabled insights to really gain value from their data. The value of these analytics can be transformational for enterprises. In fact, "By 2025, AI for video, audio, vibration, text, emotion and other content analytics will trigger major innovations and transformations in 75% of Fortune 500 global enterprises" according to Gartner's Top 10 Trends in Data and Analytics, 2020 report. By partnering with ThoughtSpot, VoiceBase customers can equip their business users to find powerful, contextual insights in their voice, text, and other contact center data.
Taming Big Data with Cognitive Computing AI
In the complex, diverse insurance industry, it can be hard to reconcile theory and practice. Adapting new processes, systems, and strategies is always challenging. However, with the arrival of new opportunities driven insurtech, cultural transformation will go smoother. Insurance companies that are considering how to plug into the insurtech landscape should understand the various models within the innovation ecosystem. Carriers have to weigh their options carefully before choosing between incubators and accelerators, or venture capital and partnerships, when creating their best internal and external teams.
Spotify Launches in Russia and 12 Additional European Markets
World's most popular audio streaming subscription service now available to 250 million more people in Europe as Spotify expands to 92 markets worldwide Spotify is available for free, offering unrivaled personalized music discovery Spotify launched its service in 13 new markets across Europe including Russia, one of the world's top 20 largest streaming markets. Already the world's most popular audio streaming subscription service, with today's expansion, Spotify now reaches a current total of 92 markets worldwide. Spotify's 13 new markets include: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine. As the leading platform driving music discovery on more types of devices than any other service, Spotify's expansion in Europe comes as consumers in the region embrace streaming. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Russia is the 17th-biggest streaming market in the world and on pace to be the 10th-biggest streaming market by 2030.
Toward Forgetting-Sensitive Referring Expression Generationfor Integrated Robot Architectures
Williams, Tom, Johnson, Torin, Culpepper, Will, Larson, Kellyn
To engage in human-like dialogue, robots require the ability to describe the objects, locations, and people in their environment, a capability known as "Referring Expression Generation." As speakers repeatedly refer to similar objects, they tend to re-use properties from previous descriptions, in part to help the listener, and in part due to cognitive availability of those properties in working memory (WM). Because different theories of working memory "forgetting" necessarily lead to differences in cognitive availability, we hypothesize that they will similarly result in generation of different referring expressions. To design effective intelligent agents, it is thus necessary to determine how different models of forgetting may be differentially effective at producing natural human-like referring expressions. In this work, we computationalize two candidate models of working memory forgetting within a robot cognitive architecture, and demonstrate how they lead to cognitive availability-based differences in generated referring expressions.
Verint and Cloud9 Team Up to Remove Complexity from Voice Compliance

How Conscious Traveling Is Gaining Popularity during Pandemic
Conscious travel means being mindful of the world and the people we encounter during our travels. It's about thinking differently when we travel; changing our values and perception of the world by seeing a destination through a local's eyes. The world is altering as people's mindsets are shifting. No longer content with mass tourism, people are becoming more conscious of real experiences, immersing themselves with their surroundings to establish longer-lasting connections and gain a better understanding of the world. Conscious travel's goal is to create a sustainable travel economy that gives something back to communities.
