How 10 Big Banks Are Using Chatbots to Boost Their Business Abe
Chatbots are exploding in the finance industry, and it's no surprise why. With the ability to automate operations, reach more customers, and provide a more friction-free banking experience, chatbots are streamlining and optimizing many banks' digital services. Here's how the world's biggest banks are using chatbots to boost their business. As one of the largest U.S. banks, Bank of America (BofA) is leading the charge for artificially intelligent chatbots in financial services. Last year, the company announced Erica, a voice- and text-enabled chatbot for BofA customers.
The 5 Million Dollar General AI Challenge is a Path to Human-level AI
Since my childhood, I have been working towards my goal of building human-level AI. But I had two main areas of interest – game programming and artificial intelligence. I spent my days and nights developing various real-time algorithms for computer graphics, aiming for a career in game development. This period deepened my understanding of programming and computer architectures. I learned how to invent new algorithms, to optimize the code on a machine level, to use math and physics to simulate the world, to develop game engines and to do art, game design, and sound design.
Meet your new MOM (Marketing Operating Model)
To drive revenue growth in the digital age, new data shows that marketing leaders are upgrading data-collection technology, collaborating closely with IT, and focusing on test-and-learn agility. Given their access to one-click shopping, same-day delivery, instant search results, and ubiquitous media, consumer expectations are sky high. Their message to businesses is paraphrased by Veruca Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: "I want it, and I want it now." In fact, consumer expectations of near-real-time interactions and services jumped to number one on the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) 2016 survey of business disruptions,1 1. This discussion is an independent McKinsey & Company fact-based analysis of the ANA survey and incorporates insights from McKinsey's Marketing & Sales Practice.
Rise of the Machine: AI Will Change CRM and How You Engage Your Customers Forever
For many years, computers could play mathematical games like chess and the sheer computing horsepower was the key to their success. Last year, for the first time ever, a computer was able to play the complex board game of Go and win! "AlphaGo", the artificially intelligent player developed by Google, won the game by defying millennia of human instinct and intellect. What is most interesting about this is that it was not preprogrammed to play Go: rather, it learned using a general-purpose algorithm which allowed it to interpret the game's patterns and came up with entirely new ways of approaching the game that originated in China more than two thousand years ago. Clearly, machine learning and the larger world of artificial intelligence (AI) are no longer the stuff of science fiction. They're here–and many businesses are already taking advantage.
Exclusive: How AI Predicts the Biggest Trends of the Season
The fashion industry is often gridlocked in a paradox that's rooted in the tension between its creative side and the bottom line. And in a retail environment undergoing extreme upheaval due to the demands of consumer centricity, this tension is being further strained. But new technologies may be able to help -- and some have knowledge greater than our own. Take Watson, IBM's new artificial intelligence solution with the ability to crunch more data faster than anything else. So, WWD wondered, what would Watson say about the latest collections shown during New York Fashion Week?
Global Neural Network Software Market (2016-2022) - Key Companies are IBM, Microsoft, HP Enterprise, Google, Oracle. SAP, Qualcomm & Intel - Research and Markets
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Neural Network Software Market (2016-2022)" report to their offering. Neural network software is used in stimulating, researching, developing, and applying artificial neural networks to a wide array of adaptive systems such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Neural network simulators are software applications used in stimulating the behavior of artificial or biological neural networks, with a focus on one or a limited number of specific types of neural networks. The most common type of neural network software historically was use in researching neural network structures and algorithms. The neural network software market is witnessing rapid growth due to increasing need for data archiving tools in order to organize the data generated from varied end user sectors.
Google's DeepMind makes AI program that can learn like a human
Researchers have overcome one of the major stumbling blocks in artificial intelligence with a program that can learn one task after another using skills it acquires on the way. Developed by Google's AI company, DeepMind, the program has taken on a range of different tasks and performed almost as well as a human. Crucially, and uniquely, the AI does not forget how it solved past problems, and uses the knowledge to tackle new ones. The AI is not capable of the general intelligence that humans draw on when they are faced with new challenges; its use of past lessons is more limited. But the work shows a way around a problem that had to be solved if researchers are ever to build so-called artificial general intelligence (AGI) machines that match human intelligence.
Why What's Going On Inside IBM's Big, New IoT Center Could Deeply Change Our Lives
Most of the tech hype at the big SXSW conference this week is definitely anything and everything around virtual reality, but Internet of Things has crept into today's chatter among attendees-in-the-know given reports that the Internet of Things (IoT) smart products platform, Evrything, just secured a solid $24.8M in Series B funding. This comes on the heels of IBM's recent announcement about a big IoT move that will explore how cognitive and IoT technologies will entirely transform industries. IoT is heating up, for sure. But this particular equation from IBM Watson, unlike Evrything, warrants an even closer look given the players involved and the massive impact the synergies will create in the IoT space in both the short and long term. If it succeeds, our everyday lifestyle as we know it will dramatically change forever .
Open-source BeagleBone Blue board aims for robots, drones
Before Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone was the go-to low-cost developer board for enthusiasts. It's still used by many, and a new BeagleBone board is now being targeted at robots. The US $79.95 BeagleBone Blue from BeagleBoard.org is a credit-card sized board with all the components needed to operate a robot or even a drone. It is open source, as its schematics have been published, and developers can replicate the board. Robots have unique requirements, and some computer boards specialize in specific features.
Apple March event: New iPad and iPhone models to be released in coming weeks, rumour suggests
Apple is to release a whole host of new products in the coming weeks, according to rumours. The company will hold its fairly regular spring event this year and use it to introduce updates to the iPad Pro as well as new models of the iPhone, according to reports. Apple has held a March event most years, focusing on new products outside of its iPhone line, with a particlar focus on the iPad. The spring event is one of three major keynotes that it hosts, which also include June's WWDC developer event and one in September where Apple introduces major revisions to the iPhones.
