The Weeknd's Sex Life Takes The Spotlight Amid Selena Gomez's Dating Rumors; 'Starboy' Singer Reveals Nontraditional Relationship Views
Selena Gomez and rumored boyfriend The Weeknd were certified newsmakers this week. But what's more interesting about this developing story was the latest report highlighting the sex life and nontraditional views on love and marriage of Gomez's new lover. In a recent interview with GQ magazine, the publication that labeled The Weeknd as the "king of sex pop," the 26-year-old "Starboy" singer candidly spoke about his own views on love and marriage. The Grammy Award-winning musician said his popularity does not affect his ego and his dating game, saying most girls want to get involve with him because of his talents instead of appearance. "The reason why they want to [have sex] with me is because of what I do [in the studio]," The Weeknd said in an interview for GQ's February 2017 issue, Us Weekly quoted.
Thinking Ahead: Optimizing the Future with Augmented Intelligence
Every day, "Artificial Intelligence" (A.I.) becomes more prevalent in the press, business and emerging technology. But we should regard all claims of Artificial Intelligence innovation with a healthy level of skepticism. "What exactly do you mean by A.I.? What do the systems do?" is a great way to open an A.I. discussion of any kind. Generally speaking, there are two main varieties of A.I., one of which is still squarely in the domain of science fiction and one that is already in use across hundreds of industries With the Computational Intelligence A.I., humans are a requirement in the process and workflow as they impart subject matter expertise and provide feedback on the output of algorithms leading to what can be regarded as Augmented Intelligence[1]. In the case of machine learning, human feedback improves accuracy and precision.
Media & Marketing News
SEEK is using machine learning and artificial intelligence to send its users more relevant job advertisements and alerts. Norway switches off its FM radio network this week, but other nations have abandoned similar plans. James Fairfax, the philanthropist and former chairman of John Fairfax & Sons, has died, aged 83, at his home in Bowral. Facebook has launched its own'Journalism Project' in an attempt to better engage with news organisations. Communications Minister Mitch Fifield is expected to woo the crossbench on media regulation.
An AI camera failed to capture the magic of CES
Relonch wanted me all to fall in love with photography again this CES. But its camera is so radically different from everything I've used before, I struggled to put my faith in its promise. The company is based in Palo Alto, California, and its pitch is simple, if very Silicon Valley: A camera as a service. You hand in your old shooter (yes, really) and in return you get the 291, a unique leather-bound DLSR-shaped camera. It has an APS-C sensor, a fixed, 45mm-equivalent lens, an electronic viewfinder, a shutter key and, importantly, a 4G radio inside.
Apple Reportedly Planning To Make Original TV Shows And Movies
Apple has a new plan to make up for flagging iPhone sales: build out the entertainment side of its business by offering original video content in Apple Music. Fans of Westworld and The OA will rejoice as yet another player enters the fray of creating high-quality, original online video. The news comes Thursday morning via The Wall Street Journal, which says Apple has been in talks with Hollywood producers to buy rights to new shows. The new video content could come as early as the end of 2017. While it appears Apple is starting small--going for just "handful of carefully selected shows," according to The Wall Street Journal--it's easy to imagine Apple expanding its original offerings if this first round is a success.
AI Changing The World With Regard To R&D, Engineering, Technical, IT
AI is already changing the world. Futuristic breakthroughs, chronicled in past TV shows like "The Jetsons" and Movies like "Back To The Future" and Steven Spielberg's "AI" are already occurring today! These include driverless cars, robot bankers, medical and surgical robots, sight and sound recognition, cyber security and improved decision making systems. Artificial intelligence is intelligence exhibited by machines. The term "artificial intelligence" is applied when a machine mimics "cognitive" functions that humans associate with other human minds, such as "learning" and "problem solving."
In bid to recapture phone market, HTC puts focus on 'U'
With much of the tech world recalling the iPhone's original announcement earlier this week, it's easy to forget how much the smartphone market has changed in the decade since Apple's hit phone was announced. As with BlackBerry and Palm, HTC was one of the early innovators in the space that has watched its standing fall in recent years to Apple's product. In a bid to recapture some of the lost glory, the company on Thursday announced a new smartphone it claims is specifically focused on the user, the HTC U Ultra. Featuring a new "Sense Companion," HTC's own digital assistant to rival Google Assistant, the company is placing an emphasis on providing information before you need it as a way to stand out. If snow is in the forecast, for example, the phone will alert you to dress warmly or leave a little earlier. It also can recommend a restaurant and then book a reservation.
Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland: How to deal with online banking glitch affecting access to your account
Lloyds Banking group's online customers have expressed frustration after a second day of problems with online and app banking. An outage on Wednesday morning prevented customers from logging into their accounts. At one point the group, which includes Lloyds Bank, the Halifax and Bank of Scotland, assured customers that the glitch had been resolved. However, complaints from customers continued on Twitter on Thursday. A spokesperson for Lloyds confirmed the banks were still experiencing "intermittent issues" and were investigating what caused the glitch.
Artificial Intelligence firm predicts results of 2017 Oscars
A company that successfully predicted that Donald Trump would become the next US president using artificial intelligence, claims to already know the nominations and winner of Best Picture for next months annual Academy Awards – aka The Oscars. The Massachusetts based start-up, Luminoso, unveiled its list (see below) almost two weeks before voting for the list of nominees officially closes (January 24) – and more than a month before the awards takes place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood (February 26). The firm pulled together over 84,000 reviews written by movie goers (not critics) which have been published on the IMDB website over the past four year (2013-2016) . It then used its Natural Language Processing software, 'Luminoso Analytics', to analyze the text and identify correlations between topics discussed in the reviews and the eventual Oscar nominees and winners. It found that certain terms, including "narrative," "cinematography," "plot," "visuals," "stunning," "experience," and "masterpiece," were more prevalent in reviews of moves that later went on to be nominated and/or win the Oscars.
