In a video that went viral on Twitter Sunday night, a massive explosion rips through what appears to be a Russian convoy, scoring a direct hit on a surface-to-air missile system. The black-and-white footage, posted to the account of the Ukrainian armed forces, is one of several that have emerged on social media in recent days showing the devastating impact of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian hardware. As the drone's payload explodes in the video--which appears to be a cellphone recording of a screen in a Ukrainian drone facility--people at the facility can be heard gasping in awe before breaking out in cheers and applause. DIFC Launches AI and Coding License in Cooperation with UAE AI Office
Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the global financial centre in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region has announced the launch of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and coding license, in cooperation with the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office. The license, which is a UAE first, will advance the country's Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, which aims to enhance the UAE's reputation in this field by attracting AI companies and coders from around the world. Companies holding the license will be able to work within a stimulating environment at the DIFC Innovation Hub, which is the largest cluster of FinTech and innovation companies in the region. In addition, the license provides an opportunity to obtain UAE Golden Visas for employees working in those companies. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, said, "Such initiatives reflect positively on the country's readiness to become a global destination for pioneering the industries of the future by adopting advanced technology and stimulating innovation in various fields. The UAE Government is keen to support digital transformation processes that embody of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. You can now delete your selfies from ID.me's website
Taxpayers can now delete any selfies they submitted to ID.me, the company tasked by the IRS to verify identities. Following uproar from privacy advocates, civil liberties groups and Congress, the federal agency last month axed a new requirement that taxpayers who want to access certain online services must comply with ID.me's facial recognition tool. Users were asked to verify their identity by uploading a selfie and government-issued ID onto ID.me's portal, which uses automated facial recognition to vet the images. Beginning today, any ID.me account holders who wish to delete their presence on the site can do so by simply visiting account.id.me. Don't worry if you don't get around to it.

A recent study from a multinational team of researchers suggests that as we currently lack a set of tested trustworthiness metrics, we should not put our trust in AI to run the metaverse [1]. Today's large scale AI integration means that AI has access to vast amounts of user data; AI can leverage the data to uncover sensitive user behavior like visits to certain websites or personal buying habits. To address these concerns, many agencies, corporations, and government bodies have studied Trustworthy AI (TAI), including the European Commission, United States Department of Defense, and FAANG companies (Meta (Facebook), Amazon, Netflix; and Alphabet (Google)).
Particle-based Fast Jet Simulation at the LHC with Variational Autoencoders

We study how to use Deep Variational Autoencoders for a fast simulation of jets of particles at the LHC. We represent jets as a list of constituents, characterized by their momenta. Starting from a simulation of the jet before detector effects, we train a Deep Variational Autoencoder to return the corresponding list of constituents after detection. Doing so, we bypass both the time-consuming detector simulation and the collision reconstruction steps of a traditional processing chain, speeding up significantly the events generation workflow. Through model optimization and hyperparameter tuning, we achieve state-of-the-art precision on the jet four-momentum, while providing an accurate description of the constituents momenta, and an inference time comparable to that of a rule-based fast simulation.
NASA selects futurists concepts for a new study into the future of space travel
NASA has selected a number of futuristic technology concepts, that could be used to help humanity spread throughout the solar system and beyond. A total of 17 researchers from nine states will share in a $5.1 million grant from NASA, allowing them to run early-stage studies into the yet-to-be-developed technologies. Among the ideas given a share of the funding are space suits that can generate oxygen from the Martian atmosphere, and bird-like drones that can fly on Venus. Known as the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program, it was launched to nurture visionary ideas that could transform future space missions'with the creation of breakthroughs, radically better, or entirely new aerospace concepts'. If they come to fruition the technologies could also allow NASA to explore the moons of the gas giant world's, or look into the atmosphere of an exoplanet.
