Artificial Intelligence: Implications for the Future of Education
Have you noticed more discussion recently about Artificial Intelligence or AI? When first hearing "Artificial Intelligence" is there an image that pops into your mind? Is it something that you can easily define? Perhaps your understanding/reference point is something you've seen in the movies. For myself, being an 80s child, my initial frame of reference is Star Wars, I immediately think of R2D2 or C3PO. My mind then wanders to thoughts of "I, Robot" starring Will Smith, in which the robots developed the capacity to think like humans, to feel and to take action on their own.
Machine Learning at Udacity Goes Deeper Udacity
We just unlocked a Free Preview of our Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree Program! Discover amazing new content, and explore your future in Machine Learning, today! The Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree program has been one of Udacity's benchmark programs for over 2 years. Thousands of students have graduated the program, and many have gone on to great careers at companies like Google, Amazon, and more. As technology evolves, so does our curriculum, and we think much of the program's success can be attributed to keeping the content up-to-the-minute current.

The Art of Learning Data Science
These days, I am sure 90% of LinkedIn traffic contains one of these terms: DS, ML or DL -- acronyms for Data Science, Machine Learning or Deep Learning. Beware of the cliche though: "80% of all the statistics are made on the spot". If you blinked on these acronyms perhaps you need to google a bit and then continue reading the rest of this post. This post has 2 goals. First, it attempts to put all the fellow Data Science learners at ease.
The 10 Hottest Coursera Courses of 2017
This list can provide inspiration for which courses you might consider for yourself in the coming year, but does it also say anything about the evolution of MOOCs? Are there trends in which types of courses are becoming more popular? And what are the reasons behind those movements? I reached out to a Coursera spokesperson to find out. As you probably already noticed, tech is booming. The subject is "continuing to draw significant interest: artificial intelligence, blockchain, and anything at the intersection of business and data analytics continue to see growth," Coursera confirmed.
PyImageConf 2018: The practical, hands-on computer vision and deep learning conference - PyImageSearch
Today I'm pleased to announce the finalized details to an event I've been working on behind the scenes for quite some time: Keep reading to learn why you should attend PyImageConf. PyImageConf 2018 will take place on August 26-28th in San Francisco, CA at the Regency Hyatt. Figure 1: PyImageConf 2018 speakers include Adrian Rosebrock, Franรงois Chollet, Katherine Scott, Davis King, Satya Mallick, Joseph Howse, Adam Geitgey, Jeff Bass, and more. PyImageConf has put together the biggest names in computer vision, deep learning, and OpenCV education to give you the best possible live, hands-on training and lectures. Each speaker is respectively known for their writing, teaching, online courses, and contributions to open source projects. If this sounds like you, rest assured, this conference will be well worth your investment of time, finances, and travel.
Practical Python Data Science Techniques Udemy
Data Science is an interdisciplinary field that employs techniques to extract knowledge from data. As one of the fast growing fields in technology, the interest for Data Science is booming, and the demand for specialized talent is on the rise. This course takes a practical approach to Data Science, presenting solutions for common and not-so-common problems in the form of recipes. This video will begin from exploring your data using the different methods like data acquisition, data cleaning, data mining, machine learning, and data visualization, applied to a variety of different data types like structured data or free-form text. It will show how to deal with text using different methods like text normalization and calculating word frequencies.
Hackathon Report: What can you code in 30 hours? Quite a lot!
What can you build in 30 hours straight? As a group of second year college students with a growing portfolio of work, my team and I wanted to find out. So we signed up to a hackathon. It was a Financial Technology (or'Fintech') hackathon organized by DCB Bank in the city of Mumbai. Although we were clueless about Fintech, we wanted to give it a try, in the hope of coming with an idea that solves a general problem.
AI-Fooling Glasses Could Be Good Enough to Trick Facial Recognition at Airports
In the not-too-distant future, we'll have plenty of reasons to want protect ourselves from facial detection software. Even now, companies from Facebook to the NFL and Pornhub already use this technology to identify people, sometimes without their consent. But as fast as this technology develops, machine learning researchers are working on ways to foil it. As described in a new study, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill developed a robust, scalable, and inconspicuous way to fool facial recognition algorithms into not recognizing a person. This paper builds on the same group's work from 2016, only this time, it's more robust and inconspicuous.
Damn Girl, You've Got a High AQ
Editor's note: This is a guest post by Natalie Fratto, VP of Early Stage Practice at Silicon Valley bank. On the walk back from her high school, Max drops by the corner bodega to pick up a NeuroStim pill -- a prescription neuro-plasticity stimulator. Neurostim will accelerate her brain's ability to create new synaptic pathways, helping her quickly learn new behaviors and spot new connections when exposed to rapidly changing stimuli. The AEI is a standardized test, implemented 10 years ago in place of the SAT. It has become a globally accepted metric for aptitude and projected performance in the modern workplace.
