UK-based payments start-up Revolut has unveiled its "human-like" chatbot, Rita, to answer customer queries. Rita – which stands for "Revolut's Intelligent Troubleshooting Assistant" – is accessible via the mobile app's messenger support service. Customers can open the app, send Rita a message and get an instant reply. During the pilot scheme, Rita resolved 20% of 7,500 customer queries per day and received a customer satisfaction score of 4.3/5. Did Rita get asked out on any dates?

Facebook has extended its controversial'Safety Check' to let people offer help. The Safety Check tool has been available since 2014 and is activated whenever a crisis is present, allowing people to tell their friends and family that they are safe. But the new tool will allow the actually help out. The Community Help feature allows unaffected people to offer help – like blankets or accomodation – to people who are in the area of such a crisis. NASA Announces Space Robotics Challenge Finalists

Last August, NASA opened the first round of the Space Robotics Challenge. A follow-on to the DARPA Robotics Challenge, the SRC is focused on what it's going to take to get humans back to the moon or on to Mars, embracing the idea that sending humanoid robots there first would make everything a heck of a lot easier. Just like the DRC, the SRC starts in simulation, with an initial round to select 20 finalists from 93 competing teams. NASA has just announced the results. In order to make it into one of the 20 finalist slots, teams had to perform some simple tasks in simulation (using Gazebo) as quickly as possible.


iPhone 8 production will start sooner than expected, report suggests

Apple is going to start making the iPhone 8 far sooner than expected, according to reports. The move could indicate that the Apple plans to release the new phone earlier than normal, that it is expecting to sell a lot more of them or that it is intending to add so many changes that the phones will take far longer to produce. There is "some indication" that Apple is ramping up production of the new phone, according to analysts from BlueFin Research Partners. The new handsets are expected to start being put together by Apple's suppliers in early June, much earlier than usual, according to the same report. Samsung Galaxy S8 latest: New AI assistant Bixby to speak eight languages

New details about Bixby, the Samsung Galaxy S8's AI assistant, have emerged ahead of the phone's unveiling next month. The virtual helper will support up to eight languages at launch, including English, Korean and Chinese, according to SamMobile.
