The longtime far-right operator and troll, a UK citizen, is being held in a detention center about 200 miles from New Orleans. Milo Yiannopoulos, a British national known for his near-constant reinventions as a vizier within far-right American politics for more than a decade, has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Louisiana, according to the department's records. While it's not clear which detention facility Yiannopoulos is currently being held in, the ICE directory instructs any family or legal representatives to contact the Enforcement and Removal Office in Alexandria, Louisiana, a processing center for the central part of the state, about 200 miles from New Orleans. ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately comment on the matter or indicate plans to deport Yiannopoulos. TMZ first broke the news of Yiannopoulos' detention.

A "mystery benefactor" bought the copies of George Orwell's dystopian satire at Booksmith and asked that they be given away free to interested customers, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Booksmith is located in San Francisco's famously progressive Haight-Ashbury district. The Orwell books were claimed, but the giveaway idea caught on. Another patron purchased copies of Margaret Atwood's novel "The Handmaid's Tale" and Erik Larson's nonfiction book "In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin" to be given away to shoppers. Candid, an anonymous-sharing app aiming for frank debate, launched Thursday, the brainchild of Google vet Bindu Reddy. Reddy, Candid's CEO and a former head of product for Google's social apps, said she embarked to create Candid after she felt unable to share unfiltered opinions on mainstream social networks. "My social media network includes everyone in my life, from friends I haven't seen since high school to family members and work colleagues. Expressing my opinion, especially about controversial issues, inevitably upsets someone," she said in a statement. "I needed a place to express myself and engage in discussions where ideas can be debated on their own merits instead of being used to attack me as a person."
