FMV game 'Telling Lies' to include stars from 'X-Men' and 'Westworld'
The sequel to the hit indie game Her Story will have a relatively star-studded cast. Creator Sam Barlow and Annapurna Interactive have revealed the main cast for Telling Lies, and you might just recognize some of them even if they aren't mega-stars. Logan Marshall-Green (Charlie Holloway in Prometheus) will play David, while Alexandra Shipp (Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse) takes the role of Ava. Kerry Bishรฉ of Halt and Catch Fire fame will play Emma, and Angela Sarafyan (Clementine from Westworld) will play Max. There's even a trendy casting announcement: Bird Box's Vivien Lyra Blair (the "girl" in Netflix's movie) has a speaking part.

From shapeshifting to magnetic sense: Animal superpowers
Evolution has been occurring for billions of years, producing organisms that are perfectly adapted to their environments. And this includes abilities that we would normally consider superpowers if humans were to have them. But these powers really do exist in the animal kingdom. In the superhero world, Matt Murdock, who was blinded by radioactive waste as a child, developed a superhuman ability to sense using sound waves and became the superhero Daredevil. The Absorbing Nightmare of "Legion"
Noah Hawley's "Legion," on FX, the latest Marvel production based on the X-Men, has an aesthetic that might be described as caustic whimsy. It's a sleek, stylized diorama of alarming imagery, as much about fear orange and misery avocado and rage yellow as it is about anything else. You don't actually have to understand much about the X-Men to enjoy watching it. This is good news, since the X-Men, a byzantine superhero mythology that launched, in 1963, as a comic-book series, has always intimidated me. I've got a layman's knowledge of the movies, and I enjoyed Marvel franchises like "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage," spinoffs from adjacent mythologies. On occasion, I've tried to absorb the Wikipedia page about the comic books, a document that makes the Talmud look like SparkNotes.
Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg reveals Iron Man-style AI system installed in his house
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has revealed his own version of Tony Stark's artificial intelligence system, Jarvis, after spending a year writing computer code and teaching it to understand his voice. The multi-billionaire showed off his creation in a cringeworthy video peppered with awkward quips, including, "Jarvis, your Mandarin is so soothing", but also demonstrated impressive tech like a computer-controlled T-shirt cannon and a front gate that recognises guests and lets them in. Jarvis, while not as powerful as Iron Man's fictional version, can also set up conference calls and even make toast, and is voiced by Morgan Freeman. Before any of that, however, Mr Zuckerberg had first to teach his thermostat, television and music player to talk to Jarvis. In a Facebook post he said: "One aspect that was much more complicated than I expected was simply connecting and communicating with all of the different systems in my home. "Before I could build any AI, I first needed to write code to connect these systems, which all speak different languages and protocols.
Why Hollywood actors are being drawn to star in video games
Video game plots don't always have the best reputations. It can be hard to keep a coherent story together when you're also trying to let a player explore an open world, or choose between branching storylines. But there are quite a few people in the industry who are working to make video game plots more like those in television or film. "Quantum Break," released earlier this month by Remedy Entertainment, blurs the lines between "traditional" media and video games even more than usual. The game features live-action sequences intercut between gameplay that stars the actors who are portraying the (very realistic) digital characters in the more traditional gameplay.
