"Unbelievable, Visionary": US Commerce Secretary Recounts Her Meeting With PM Modi
US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, recounting her recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that India and America would lead the artificial intelligence revolution. Ms Raimondo, who visited India in March, said the best of India was at display during her visit, in terms of culture, tradition and celebrations. Pictures and video clips of her playing Holi have gone viral on social media and reflect the strong relationship between the US and India. Addressing a gathering of Indian Americans at the India House, the commerce secretary fondly remembered her Holi celebrations this year in India. "I was recently in India. I went a day earlier so that I could have the opportunity to participate in Holi. And the defence minister was so gracious to host me with his family," Ms Raimondo said on Saturday.

Deci, the deep learning company harnessing AI to build AI, announced a new set of industry-leading semantic segmentation models, dubbed DeciSeg. Deci's proprietary Automated Neural Architecture Construction (AutoNAC) technology automatically generated semantic segmentation models that significantly outperform the most powerful models publicly available, such as the MobileViT released by Apple, and the DeepLab family released by Google. Deci's models deliver more than 2x lower latency, as well as 3-7% higher accuracy.

Gartner Magic Quadrant
This is a guest post from Paul Pilotte, technical marketing manager for data science and predictive analytics. Gartner recognizes MathWorks as a Visionary in its January 2019 Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms Deep learning and AI are top of mind in many organizations we work with at MathWorks. It's inspiring for us to see many engineers and scientists learning and applying deep learning in applications from UAVs using AI for object detection in satellite imagery to improved pathology diagnosis for early disease detection during cancer screenings. If you've followed this blog, you've seen how MATLAB offers a comprehensive deep learning workflow that simplifies and automates data synthesis, labeling, training, tuning, and deploying deep learning to AI-driven systems, including enterprise applications, embedded functionality, and edge systems. This makes AI accessible to engineers and scientists without previous data science experience.
What Should You Know About Neural Networks? - Visionary.life
Although neural networks are one of the latest developments in the world of computer technology, the idea was born in 1943. A mathematician Walter Pitts and a neurophysiologist Warren McCullough wrote their work entitled A Logical Calculus of the Ideas Immanent in Nervous Activity, which was then published in the Brain Theory journal. The researchers suggested that brain activity is based on activation of neurons which are its basic units. In 1952, they moved to MIT and created the first department of cognitive science.
3 ways AI is making your life easier
Unless you work in computer science, chances are artificial intelligence (AI) still seems like a vaguely sci-fi-ish phenomenon. But the reality is that AI is already working its way into our daily lives through the apps and business services we use. Think of your smartphone as tomorrow's AI platform today, and the services you use (from banking and transportation to marketing and medical care) as extensions of AI "brains" in the cloud that will get smarter and more intuitive every day. Google's new AutoDraw, a product of its AI Experiments lab, combines your rudimentary artistic skills with computer vision to try to figure out what you're trying to sketch -- with your mouse on a desktop screen, or with your finger on a tablet or smartphone -- and instantly upgrades your doodling to a perfect little line drawing. "We hope AutoDraw will help make drawing and creating a little more accessible and fun for everyone," the Google team behind it says.
